My stomach would stay bloated for days and weeks at a time.  I did the same tests, colonoscopy, doctors, and run around.  They ALL claim that there is "nothing" wrong with me.  There were even times where I felt very sick for days and could not get well.  The same thoughts ran through my head as everyone here.  I started taking Amitiza which made have massive cramps with unbearable pain.  I felt constipated all of the time and miserable.

My Solution: After trying many things, cutting out food, adding differents foods, taking probiotics etc... I found that my stomach is reacting to Diet Cola.  I've cut Diet Cola from my diet, and drink nothing but coffee, water, and tea.  My stomach will still bloat at times right after eating, but the symptoms go away much more rapidly.

Good Luck finding what food your stomach is reacting against.  I feel for you, you're not alone, and you're not crazy. :)

I have always had a problem with bloating in my abdomen since I was 19, but it would usually go down overnight.  Last year I was on prednisone for a year and during and since I seem to stay bloated constantly, but more so when I eat or drink anything.  I try to eat more healthy and I have even drank only water it doesn't matter.  I get so miserable some times when it happens. I just hate it! Laxatives do  nothing, I do not eat that much daily, I cannot figure it out.  I do not think it is fat because you can pinch it and there is no solidness to it.

I never thought about a virus in my intestines. The problem is just getting worse and is now on a daily basis. I hardly eat anything. I am on pain meds but I have been on these for over a year and my gut problem got worse three months ago. There has to be something wrong. I swell up immediatly after taking foods or meds that disagree with me. I can't even get intimate with a man because I nearly cry when I look at my body in the mirror. It has been 5 years since I have had sex. I am 53 years old and going through menopause. Even natural stuff like Vitamin D upsets my gut. What do I do. I hardly have any money as I can not work due to an injury which is long term. So paying out big dollars to get tested is not an option. Thanks for listening. Jan

People you may have parasites. Try the health food stores for wormwood extract and green walnut extract. Try amazon also.you can take a few droppers fulk in liquid. Must have a chaser bcuz its nasty!
Take as recommended on bottle.
Also. Several raw garlic cloves. Chew a little and swallow. You will smell like garlic. But it kills parasites after a day or so . Use less for maintenance.
Ginger also. Chew or juice. No joke the garlic is amazing. Better than docs meds for sure

I had this issue for 2 years.. None of the doctors I went to could figure it out. Fast Foward 2 years I had a tumor ( non cancerous) on my ovary.. I swore that I would make sure women knew the symptoms ... The symptoms are the same for ovarian cancer.. Do a google search. I am not trying to scare anyone I just want women to be aware that ovarian problems present as stomach problems.. I would eat a small portion and be misserable like I ate a whole thanksgiving feast.. It was horrible.. If you are female and have stomach issues like that please have your doctor check for any ovarian problems..

Have you thought about SIBO? I took an antibiotic and the bloating went away for the time I took it. I am having trouble finding a gastroenterologist in Denver who will treat it properly. Read the US News and World article online titled "SIBO: A Four Letter Word for Bloating" Good luck--I have had this for over four years!

I too have the same problem. No matter what I eat or drink I bloat terribly and have pain. I have been dairy, glutten and mostly free of sugars and processed foods for years. My diet is so limited. And now I am considering cutting out any grains at all as I still do oats and brown rice. I did a full parasite cleanse and was on the candida diet for a year with supplements (Candex). Tried probiotics and digestive enzymes. Nothing has helped. I've done colonics and as soon as I'm emptied out I feel better. But two bites of food after and my bloating is already coming back. There are times my stomach is so distended I feel like it will burst. The bad foods are definitely still bad and I react terribly. But if they are a 10 my good foods are still a 6. This has been going on for years and is getting progressively worse. I'm malnourished. I've lost 20 lbs in only one month and I know look anorexic. I'm also severely constipated. I tried aloe and all kinds of remedies to help w the constipation and heal the gut but so far no help. I go in for ct scan and colonoscopy but I haven't rushed because the dr said he thinks I have IBS and there isn't much that can be done.

I have been having the same gas/bloating issues on and off for 20 years. It was quite sever in my 20's and even now in my 40's the problem has not been resolved. Some times are better than others but right now is a BAD time. It seems like the minute I eat anything my stomach instantly starts fizzing and filling with gas. I have read all the SIBO and IBS literature and while I am sure I have SIBO, it doesn't seem to address why I feel like all food turns into an alkaseltzer tablet in my stomach. Water has even set it off at times. Water?? That is messed up!

I have decided to eliminate a bunch of foods, eat only those that are easily absorbed and use Goldenseal (herbal antibiotic). I have kicked out the alcohol and sodas, and that does help with the initial gas filling up in my stomach. I'm also eliminating all the Special K items: chips, popcorn treats, brownies and crisps.  I was trying to find low calorie snack items but I need to start from zero to see what may be the culprits. I also quit all the gummy vitamins and calcium. They seem to make things worse.

For SIBO, the literature advises easily digested foods that don't linger in the small intestine and allow fermentation that then causes gas. I'm going to try a bland diet of pearl rice, chicken and well cooked vegetables. I'll throw in some fruit and yogurt as I don't remember any of these items being a direct cause of the stomach filling up with air.

I'm also going to keep a log and track down the triggers. Maybe its stress, depression combined with certain foods that are my problem. I do know that wine is a problem with intestinal gas for me. I use to be able to drink it but now it's a trigger. That is such a bummer!!

I have also increased my water intake and go to the gym regularly as intestinal motility has been shown to be an issue with SIBO. Maybe the SIBO is the cause of the initial stomach reacting to anything I eat? I don't know but I am willing to give anything a shot at this point. I wish it was just one or two specific food items and I would NEVER eat them again!

Fingers Crossed!

My symptoms are some what similar. I can have 3-6 eliminations in the morning then start eating and will bloat up all day, have at least 2 eliminations after dinner and feel so bloated and uncomfortable even after I eliminate I could explode. I have been to the doctors, had a barium enema, have tried all sorts of stuff (Apple cider vinegar, pro-biotics, digestive enzymes etc.....) I drink at least 6 litres of water a day, and eat so bland it's scary. I've cut out gluten, dairy and can hardly eat. I've even cut out a lot of fibre as that was making it way worse. This is a huge problem as I workout 5 days a week and am extremely tired as I can't eat anything without feeling horrible. My doctor says it's because I suffer from depression and anxiety and am on a very low dose of (25mg of Zoloft ) anxiety medication. That's great and all but I need to fix this problem as it's effecting my marriage (low intimacy due to feeling bloated and horrible at night)
