My partner and i would like to start a family and i have MC. I take medicatoin - Mexitil (200mg) and Quinine Sulphate (300mg) a day. I would like to know if i can take both tablets during and prior to pregnancy. I have contacted my doctor and consultant but they don't seem to know much. I do know that Quinine can cause still births, defects and deafness in the foetus so I assume it's best to come off that medication, but do i need to come off it for a few weeks prior to conception or can i take it up until the day i find out i'm pregnant? The Mexitil - does that cause still births/defects in the foetus or can it be taken prior and during pregnancy? if so, can the dosage be doubled to compensate for not taking the Quinine Sulphate. Finally, is it recommended to have a caesaerian in case of muscle cramps in the birth canal during childbirth? I would really appreciate any advice / recommendations you may have for us. Thanks.

Get off the meds before conception.

Myotonia congenita in no way makes natural childbirth more dangerous.  Pushing is stronger.  A C-section could be harder to recover from for someone with MC than a normal person.
