I had a lower facelift and necklift from a board certified reputable surgeon 6 years ago. The post op strangulation sensation and numbness has not lessened at all in the last 6 years. I've seen dozens of doctors including plastic surgeons, ENTs, neurologists, pain management, general practitioners, etc. and no one has been able to help. I've tried botox injections, nerve block, exploratory surgery, neruontin, muscle relaxors, needling, accupunture, massage, etc. Nothing has helped. Does anyone have suggestions? This surgery has ruined my life.
Hello, Blue123.
It's evident that you've sought help from various specialists and tried numerous treatments to no avail.
Some hospitals offer clinics where different specialists come together to review complex cases. This could provide a more holistic approach to diagnosing and treating your symptoms.
If you haven't already, working with a physical therapist who specializes in head and neck conditions might provide some relief or at least improve functionality.
Biofeedback is a technique you can use to learn to control your body's functions. It might help in managing pain and tension. Also, consider undergoing comprehensive neuroimaging tests, such as MRI, to rule out any nerve entrapments or other structural issues that might be causing the symptoms.
While you've tried some alternative therapies like acupuncture, you might consider other modalities, such as craniosacral therapy or chiropractic adjustments, which some people find beneficial.
Have you tried TENS unit?
I'm sorry to hear about your struggles after the facelift. Have you considered seeking advice from a specialist in nerve disorders or a tertiary care center? Sometimes, a fresh perspective can offer new treatment options.
