negative pregnancy test but no period

Hi, I was supposed to get my period 4 days ago and never did. I have taken two pregnancy tests on separate days and they both came out negative. I have been on birth control for 4 years and have never missed a period or had one this late. Could I be pregnant or what are the other factors that could be responsible for this?
