Oh nice! What are you majoring in? It really helps when you have a blog to try to maintain the same information so that you get more traffic to it. Are you trying to grow it into something big?

Im probably gonna be a surgeon or a er physician. Its not growing into something big just something im doing in my free time and maybe get some extra credit in english. But it may grow into something big someday. And if i change my mind about a medical career then I would probably major into biology. But so far im probably going to go into a pre-med program and then go to Eastern Virginia Medical School

That sounds like a good plan! Have you already been studying for the MCATs? I was medical school bound for awhile before I changed career paths. I totally sympathize with you on that.

My parents may order me the Official Guide to The MCAT Exam in a few months. I also plan to go to college first and complete a pre-med program and then take the exams, then apply to medical school if everything works out ok :-)

All the best for your future career :-)

Well, that would be the best plan. Although i should let you know--in NYC, there's a program where you can go straight to med school without having to complete a college degree. It's at Mt. Sinai and it might be worth a look. Have you ever heard of it?

No I havent, but I have to stay in Virginia for now because of my health problems. My parents want me to be able to go to the doctor's I already see at CHKD so they wont have to worry about getting copies of all my medical records from all my different doctors(Have 9 different specialists. Maybe I could convinve them into letting me go to Mt. Sinai, and Im pretty sure that there would be a children's hospital there too. Can you tell me more about the program?

I forgot to reply to your post here, and I'm sorry. What they do is they take people who are in college and just put them straight into medical school without doing a degree related to medicine like biology. As you know, there's no such degree as premedical studies--you usually get your degree in a related field. It is a hospital after all--I don't think it would be much of an issue to get you from one to another!

My parents ae so stubborn 8-| But that would cut off some years of school required and it will help with saving money instead of having to go to a 4 yr college then med school. Anyways you have any ideas for a topic I should write about for my blog? Im thinking somewhere along the lines of genetic disorders. Which ones....Not sure of

Plus you would get a lot of savings there! I think that there's a ot of scholarships in the prgoram, which for med school sis VERY rare. you should really push your parents on this one. It's your future, not theirs!

Exactly!! I will try to convine them, besides if I wait until im too old to keep going to the children's hospital, I would have to wait four years!! They stop seeing you at 21 and I will graduate high school when Im just turning 17, and Id rather not wait four years to go to a school out-of-state. And who knows, maybe my blog may be helpful in trying to get into med school?

Hi SkinnyTeen,
Interesting post, I have read it. As I understood if not noticed with newborns one can have sever brain damage when older.
I was wondering can it occur in the older people, or just newborns?
