I'm saddened to see so many people suffer from migraines daily from little relief.  I just underwent major bunion repair surgery over 3 months ago now and now for 6 weeks or so I've gone from a 0 headache sufferer to a everyday hiding in a darkroom, in pain migraine sufferer where migraine pills rarely work or I have to take a lot of them and they ARE expensive or add up.  I've gone to the ER countless times already and ready to go again, sleep all day with no relief, and I"m waiting for my referral appointment to my Neurologist but I see now I'll get little help with that.  This sucks!  Seeing as I woke up with this one day, I want to wake up with this gone one day too!  Please.

i'm not a doctor but get another opinion. chronic headaches that come on suddenly and are continous needs to be checked. If in ohio you should go to the cleveland clinic. great bunch of neuro people.

What sort of anesthesia did you have for your surgery? This could be a clue into your sudden headaches...

I don't know, i was out as the ankle block didn't take for the bunion surgery at all and it ended being a 4 hour or so surgery. I'm seeing one of my Neuro's on Thursday and I'll ask about that as a possibility, thanks for suggesting that. Never even thought about that...and it happened 2 months after the surgery too, still a possibility?

Oh... I misunderstood. Sorry. I thought that the headaches started right after surgery and I thought of spinal fluid leak, which can cause major continuous headaches. I hope you find some answers.

Thanks for the thought, I'll keep posting back. I had an MRI this AM I get results back in a week so I'll let you know if they found anything in it, also some blood work showed my Chloride levels were high, we are retesting that and my Thyroid levels to see if that is it too. So we're trying. Also for some reason my resting heartbeat is high, 110 - 130 which my doctor is concerned about too. So am hoping to get some answers too.

Had to stop Topamax because I couldn't afford to lose more weight, and started Nortriptyline. And yes there were difficult sexual side effects that went away after stopping the Topamax. Now weaning off of everything, and my chiropractor has done more good than anyone or anything out there. Wish I had seen her first for the migraines and neck pain. I am pain free now with only an occasional manageable headache once every 4-6 weeks.

I have had a back pain for the past five days my Doctor prescribed Nortriptyline 10mg.  I take Citalopram for anxiety and I am wondering if they will conflict with each other?

Is your neurologist mental?! Starting someone on nortriptyline 5 times a day is insane! The starting dose should always be 25mg an hour before bedtime, then slowly titrating up to the dose you're currently taking. There are other meds out there to help prevent migraines and to treat seizure disorders like Gabapentin. I'm not a doctor but I've never heard of anyone experiencing hair loss on nortriptyline. It may be a sign of another medical condition. It sounds like your neurologist isn't listening to you and isn't doing what's in your best interests. I think it's time to find another neurologist for a second opinion. Remember, you are your own best advocate. You alone know your own body so speak up if you don't feel right about your treatment. Best of luck to you!
