My fingers and arms get numb from time to time, but it's never been like this before and it really scared me tonight...

My right pinky and palm became very numb, and the numbness started to spread a little bit to the rest of my hand.

Then when I looked at my wrist, the veins had become enlarged or swollen ... I compared it to my left wrist and you could tell that it was different. And I could see a section of one of my veins bubble up and it was like the blood couldn't get through.

It stayed like this for a good ten minuetes, and the numbness decreased but still lingered

My cholesterol level is normal, and I drank a decent amount of water through out the day. I hadn't been leaning on my right hand or anything to have upset it.

Should I be that worried about this?
It sure sounds like the numbness on your right pinky and palm may have been vascular in origin. A blood clot or damaged valve in your vein could have caused this. Take an aspirin pill or two to thin the blood to see if the edema and numbness will subside. See your doctor at the next opportunity.

I experienced the same symptoms, but in my left hand and wrist with veinous activity extending up to my bicep. It subsided as quickly as it started, but I then felt light headed and confused. Rushed to ER in ambulance. Everything checked out but was told I had signs of an allergic reaction. The doc never heard of the swollen vein thing. Oh well. Hope I wake up tomorrow!

If you felt light-headed and confused, you may have had a stroke. The stroke may have been caused by a blood clot that had become dislodged from the vein on your left hand or arm. and then traveled to your carotid artery and brain, temporarily causing an obstruction. If you had communicated this to the ER doctor, he/she may have come to a more accurate diagnosis. I seriously doubt this was an allergic reaction. You may want to put yourself on aspirin therapy to help prevent another blood clot just to be on the safe side, before you have a chance to talk to your doctor again.
