Ok I too have read this post and the last one on this issue. I am 45 years old I am overweight, I quit smoking jan 09 and on february 9 09 I basicaly woke up with tingling in my left hand pinky ring and middle fingers and in the wrist of my left hand. I also have the same sensation plus burning in my left foot and toes. I feel this tingling in my eye socket sometimes as well as my ear (left) from time to time but always present in my hand and foot on the left side.
Went to the ER blood pressure very high, got meds now controlled and basically low normal. Blood tests for cholestorol, lipid thyroid functions all come back normal. Cholestorol a little high but not nothign out of the ordinary.
What the heck is wrong! I dont think carpal tunnel or ulnar nerve because it is in my foot and face as well. I just wish someone would come up with a diagnosis, some say pinched nerve my doctor said b6 for that i take it been taking it along with a regimen of supplements still feel this and i have it! Please anyone what could this be!

Hi all I posted the thread above and my doctor gave me Lyrica to try to speed up the process of healing this phenomenon, hopefully it will work we will see and I will keep all posted if it worked for me!
He said he thinks it had to do with the high blood pressure event and this will probably speed up the healing of the damaged nerve receptors. I cna only hope! 2 months of constant annoying tingle and numbness! Good Lord please let this work!

I have had numbness in my left pinky and ring fingers for three days now. My left elbow had been sore and sensitive for a while. I first experienced it when I woke up Sunday morning. One thing that may be worth noting is that the day before I first experienced it, I was playing the Nintendo DS for about 12 hours straight. I hold it in my left hand and rest my elbow on an armrest. I had only bought it on Friday night, so it was the first time I played it for any considerable length of time. Also, I am only now noticing how often (quite) I rest my left elbow on my desk during work, for whatever that is worth.

Some details about myself: 27 male, regular smoker, overweight, and I probably have HBP.

Ive had very similar problems for the past month or so.

Ive noticed from the postings that a very high percentage of people with these symptoms are aged 27. I am also this age. Is it some kind of chemical change gone wrong?
Are our bodies malfunctioning as they are preparing us for middle age?

My pains are: Tingling/Burning/Coldness in my left leg and hand.
Anal Bleeding
I have varicous viens
Occasional chest pain

Doctor claims all are just syptoms of varicous veins but i have my doubts.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Well I have been taking the lyrica for a couple of weeks as you know from my post above, and still no significant changes in the numbness or timgling in my left hand or foot. I did start a diet regimen last week and I am going to see how it affects my problem with eating better excersize and hopefully weight loss. I will not eat any refined sugars or junk food for the next couple of months and keep to an excersize program and will let you all know.
In fact the funny thing is i feel numbness and tingling in my upper left thigh area now and I have been watching my food intake and taking the meds and excersizing so go figure. But it has only been a short time I will keep everyone posted if I find a solution to this annoying problem.

Amazing how many of us feeling the pain but no solution.

I am curious to know if you had a vaccine (especially tetanus shot) prior to getting these symptoms.

I just found this site by chance. I am not a member nor a medical doctor.

So many of us are hurting but I don't see a solution.

I have one question and one fix.

(1) Has any of you had a tetanus shot prior to your symptoms?

(2) This might help in ease the pain - take 2-3 fresh Rosemary needles. Chew them in your mouth. Take your time and try to place the ground under your tongue. This is not a cure but helps.

In addition to vaccine shots, I wonder how many of you have been taking Advil extensively. "Numbness to the arm and hand - left side" is one of the many side effects of taking Advil. I suspect that one needs to take a heavy dose and long period of time to bring about the problem. If you do "live" with Advil, try to a break and see if the symptoms might improve.

Again, I am not a medical doctor (taught them before]. Just trying to help.

In addition to vaccine (e.g., tetanus shot), "numbness to arm and hand, left side" can be a side effect of Advil. If you take Advil multiple doses daily and for an extended period of time, you might want to take a break from Advil and see if your symptoms might improve.

Interesting how many are looking for the strange causes & solutions. My symptoms presented significantly late yesterday as pain in the left arm (particularly the elbow area) and numbness in the pinky and ring finger area that does not dissipate. I frequently have had elbow area discomfort and presumed it was from how I sit at the computer and hold my left arm when driving. I am right handed, use the computer significantly at work, but with a track ball, 48 year old male and my wife (who does not use a computer at all) does not present with any of these symptoms.

So this significant flare-up and numbness (first time for that other than when I slept on it wrong) occurred after laying ceramic floor tile on a cement floor using a mortar adhesive. After reading all the speculations of STD, herpes, GERD, etc. I saw someone reference Ulnar Nerve Entrapment. Now that makes sense. The following link gives details that match my situation and were very helpful. Just keeping my elbow straight for the past two hours and taking anti-inflammatory medicine, such as ibuprofen, has helped! I think I'll try the elbow brace tonight and some exercises too.

Hope this helps some of you. For the others...hope it's not too serious and that you'll live.

Has anyone already posted/researched the side effects associated with the with the widely used sweetener aspartame? One is paresthesia or numbness of the limbs.

Wow! Just found this site today and can't believe how common these symptoms are. I have been experiencing the tingling, goosebumps, brain freezing feeling (like when you drink something very cold) on my left side and in my scalp at the same time. I have been taking Advil or Aleve for menstrual cramps almost every month and wondered about that. I also have a funny heart palpitation sometimes and have been recently diagnosed with Acid Reflux. I wonder if the meds could be the culprit? Doc says my heart and lungs are ok. Did EEG and MRI all good. I also have fibroids and wonder if they could be responsible for the acid reflux and maybe putting pressure on the nerves. I gotta figure this out. The doctors don't seem to know what yet... Good to know that it's not just me or in my head.

I too have had most of the symptoms described in all these posts. Numbness mainly on my left side in my hands (more in my pinkies then other fingers) and legs, acid reflux, swelling in my neck and jaws, sinus issues. I work at a computer all day and then recreationaly lift weights and jog. Recently I stopped lifting weights and started aggressively treating my acid reflux and the symptoms went away. I think most of us are suffering from spine problems. I found a great post by someone who talked about nerve compression in the spine causing acid reflux (http://www.reflux.org/reflux/webdoc01.nsf/(vwWebPage)/SpinalTheory.htm?OpenDocument). I think that nerve compression plus the acid reflux causes the numbness you may experience. Supposedly there are nerves in your esophagus that when irritated by acid reflux can cause numbness along obviously with the nerve issues in your spine. I have had these problems for 4 years and have been researching like crazy to find the answer. I really think this is it. So my suggestions are do whatever it takes to reduce your acid reflux (diet, medicine, etc...) and reduce the pressure on your back (lose weight, massage, no weight lifting that tightens your back muscles, watch your posture). I could go on forever so feel free to reply to this post if you have any questions.

Ok well here it has been a couple more months and nothing! I still have the numbness it has gotten worse some days I think more so in the arm and hand area not so much foot, although it is still there as well. Lyrica did not work, eatign right helps a bit I guess but certainly not a cure by any means. Going to the Doctor too check my liver for the statin use see if all is well, basically what it boils down to is some sort of nerve damage or mini stroke after affect, after I had that bout with very high blood pressure. I dont know, it sucks for sure but i guess its better than a dibilitating stroke where i cant talk walk or do anything. But if anyone knows what may be causing this please oh Lord please give us the answers.
