I used the ring for about 4 months and gained about 10lbs. I've never had trouble losing weight before but even though I stopped using the ring (and am not using ANY birth control) haven't managed to lose 1 single pound!
I exercise, eat very healthy, etc... have done detox and cleanses and nothing has worked. Does anybody know what to do?

I have been on the ring now for about a year and i thought somehow i was just gaining 15 lbs!!! i was 145 now im 160 only 5'5. eating even less than before and havent been able to lose anything just gain. I thought i was just making excuses for gaining weight. i took out my ring for my week break and i will not be using it again! taking a cleanser and working out hoping i will lose atleast the weight ive gained in the last year. I hope all of you have good luck!
i have gained weight too! i don't know how much but i started taking the ring in june and now i want off of it. I can tell by my mid section that i have otten a little gut.
I was on nuva ring for about 8 months and was fine the for the first 3 then after that I gained about 15 to 20 pounds in 4 months. I was excersing 2 to 3 hours 7 days a week and ate about a 1000 calories a day if that and i still kept gaining weight, My wieght is a lot in my hips and some in my legs
If you are some one who tends to gain wieght on birth control I would not reccomend nuva ring for you!!!

ok so the nuvaring definetely makes you gain weight. i decided to go on it for the summer and switch every 3 weeks to keep me from getting my period so i could have an easier summer. but now im switching off of it because since the short time i've been on it ive gained a lot of weight, not sure how much but it's noticeable. i DO NOT reccommend this.. it is convenient but not worth it in the long run.
I have been on Nuvaring for 2 years. Firstly, I LOVE the convenience of it. I'm not very good about taking pills everyday, especially at the same time.
The first year I was on it I gained about 10 pounds. I didn't think much of it because I had stopped working out as much, I was still dieting and working out, but not excessively. This past year, I have put on more then 30 pounds. I'm pretty sure it has to do with a combination of some other medication I took, which I have been off now for 9-10 months. I workout HARDCORE, about 3 hours EVERYDAY, 7 days a week, and I cannot lose a POUND. I also diet, 1200 calories a day. The weight I have gained is mainly in my stomach/hip area, which I have also read as other ladies' complaints.. I feel bloated ALL the time, especially the week before my period. I usually gain about 10 pounds of water weight starting about 2 weeks before. My periods were great at first, but now I am bleeding so much heavier, sometimes with clots. I feel terrible about myself, and wearing sweatpants all the time just plain sucks. If you have weight problems, or come from a family with weight problems, I do not recommend Nuvaring for you. I will be getting off it in the next month.

THANK YOU BEAUTIFUL LADIES! I'm 36 and got on Nuva Ring about 9 months ago but find I'm steadily putting on weight. I was 133 last summer (after working off baby weight) and have always had a good metabolism but this summer, I've GAINED and am now up to 146!!! I LOVE the convenience of it, NO moody side effects, and overall I like it. Weight has seem to have come on faster the longer I've been on it, and yes, always feel bloated. Also considering an IUD because the hormones associated with pills makes my head spin :-) Good luck, and you're not alone!!! XD
I am 36 and have not been on bc for years, but decided to try the Nuva ring this year. I weighed 108 lbs and after 4 months with no change in diet or exercise I am now 125 lbs, which is more than I have weighed in my entire life. Also experienced reduced sex drive and dry vagina, hair loss, and mood swings. I like the convenience and the short, cramp- and painfree periods but I think I'd rather just have no sex at all (which my sex drive kind of dictates anyway) than deal with this. I have boobs for once which is fun for a flatchested girl, but I also have never had bellyfat before and now I am so bloated I can't wear pants at all - only wide dresses. I have increased my exercise routine but I just keep gaining weight. No thanks.
I am not crazy. 1 1/2 years later and 20 pounds I am going off of the Ring. I didn't realize how much weight I put on until I went to the doctor and was weighed. They were concerned and switched me to Loesterin 24. I hope the weight comes off and I am back to my self! I will miss my boobs!
Oh, I actually lost about 20 pounds during my 3 years with Nuvaring. But it gives me headaches, so I think I might switch to an IUD
ive only been on the ring for 2 weeks and ive gianed 10 lbs,im thinkin about getting a new birthcontrol
I am so grateful to all of you for sharing your experience with Nuvaring - I've been on it for 6 months and I've gained 10 pounds. As some of you mentioned in earlier postings, I have been working out very seriously for the last two years, and got my weight down to where I wanted it. But now every month I find that I've lost control of my weight, and it's depressing. In fact, I feel like I'm experiencing body image issues where before I had none.
Increasing my exercise to at least an hour every day of rigorous cardio, spinning or weight training has done nothing. I'm getting off this ring immediately. thank you all for your very helpful comments.

Ah, I was just talking to my friend about this today. I switched to Nuva Ring in June and i've gained probably 10 pounds and I didn't know why because i've been going to the gym and trying to eat better. I came to the conclusion today that it was becasue of this, and then when I googled it I found this site. I never gained weight on the pill and i'm switching back asap!
i've been using the NuVa ring for three days & after reading the 6 pages plus of all those who have gain weight from the side effects, i have taken it out & will not ware it do to the weight gain. im a trained fighter & cutting weight 4 a fight is very important. I've tried tons of different Birthcontrol pills & because of the hormones i have not only gains weight from them but have developed even tumor growth. when i took the different forms of low hormone birthcontrol it still made me gain weight. I decieded 2 take the NuVa ring because i have a period every other week & they dont know any other way 2 stop it unless its this NuVa ring or freezing my uterus which will leave me un able 2 ever have children. Any one out there know what I could do or have a simlar problem as I. these are the time i hate being a women for real!!!!!!
