ive been suffering from abdominal pain

but most off all mid month vaginal bleeding.
i have had a scan and have been told i have a cyst 5cm by 5cm.
will i need to have that removed surgically? is that a big op? and will i be off work long aftera?

No, not nessessarily. I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic ovarian disease and they gave me Birth Control Pills and Metformin- they keep the cysts at one position, prevent growing and so on. Sometimes they can cause sterility, in those cases first hormonal treatment is administered for a period of time and if this doesn't help- then it's the surgery. It's usually done with a laparoscope- so no scars, no post-op pain, home on the same day and antibiotics for a few days just to prevent possible infection.
my job is a hsycal one, do u think i would b off work long after? are u very sore after?
