I had my left hip replaced 14 Months ago and the right side 12 months ago. After the first surgery, I felt really good for the first few months. Then it began to get really stiff. After the second surgery, my left side got worse. Fourteen months later, I still experience swelling and pain on my left side, mostly on the back and side of the buttox. At 6 months out, I got an ex ray and was told that the hip was correctly in place.
I have been religious about doing rehab exercises. I lift weights, do the elliptical and ride my road bike. I am able to bike hard for long periods of time. When I finish, I feel pain free and more flexible. Sitting seems to make my left side worse. I can't seem to shake the pain and swelling or the resulting limp.
just wondering if anyone has experienced this and/ or has any suggestions for what I can do

I've had the same problem, Large edema at the surgical site formed a year after my hip replacement. Had PT but the swelling & pain doesn't end. Doctors haven't been able to help.
I tried to get a second opinion at Beaumont in Taylor and they refused to see me because I was seeing another doctor.
