No, not related. I had my wisdom teeth out as a young person and this problem has manifested itself in my later years.

You might be sensitive to nitrites or sulfite. I get the same pain when I drink certain types of wine or any prepacked luncheon meat. I can eat the Naturals turkey by oscar Mayer bc it's free of those pesky preservatives. Drinking water at the onset of the pain helps it to go away faster. If I don't do that it last for 20-30 mins. Anyway hope that helps

Chewing gum absolutely helped! The pain became more intense for a few moments and then subsided. I have stopped chewing to type and the pain is returning. I am on a blood pressure med with a diuretic and allergy meds.

Don't know if we're on to something - but BF says he started getting this sort of pain from drinking *after* we moved in together. He had switched toothpaste for mine (Colgate Sensitive Relief). I don't recall having this sort of pain before using this particular product, either. Are you using a similar kind of toothpaste?

I get this all the time when drinking alcohol. Go to the bar and ask for a piece of orange that use with bluemoon that work for me instantly every time.

I just tried a piece of apple and that also fixed the issue.

However, Orange Juice doesn't work for me. It has to be the actual fruit

I not only have this jaw pain as described but I also get a hot burning sensation in both feet. Does anyone else have the same problem or know why my feet burn when I drink. I might enjoy a drink once every couple weeks if that often, mostly because of the symtoms I have when I do drink. ):

I think people here are talking about different synthoms each. My synthoms match with yours: I also exercise regularly and I startibg to have a black list of drinks. Commercial beer and California wine gives me pain: artisanal beer and french wine doesn't.

I hate this problem. I just need to stop having a beer with my meal I think. It doesn't always happen, but when it does ouch!
I tried the water swooshing thing and it helped a little.

I am a woman in mid fifties. I have a nerve pain, like stabbing needles in my tmj zone after imbibing in any alcoholic beverage. Doesn't matter what kind of drink. It usually doesn't start unless I have had more than one drink. Doesn't feel muscle related or grinding teeth related. It does decline in pain with time and is gone within a few hours.
