Yes, this is true. I have had carpal tunnel surgery twice on right hand and once on the left. With carpal tunnel, the pinky finger is the only one not affected.

It could be as simple as your sleeping position.

I have had this same thing in my left pinky for months!  Did not hurt it as far as I know, it just started hurting. Hurts to bend, hurts to straighten, hurts if any pressure is applied to it. Have pretty much stopped using it. I go for an X-Ray Friday, hoping for some sort of answer. Will keep you posted.

Me, too, for about a week now. Warm water soaking/salt seems to help, but don't know what else to do.

I have had pain in my pinky finger since March 2014. I did not damage it, it just started aching in the knuckle joint one day and got progressively worse and more painful. If I accidentally knock it or bend it the pain is unbelievable. Now I can't bend the finger past 45 degrees. I can squeeze all around the joint, wiggle my finger with no pain - only happens when I bend it. Have had numerous tests for arthristis, have been x-rayed twice and even had an MRI. What is showing is a slight grey area on one of the my finger bones near the pain area. Doctor thinks it may be a cyst/tumour on the bone but not sure how to proceed. The pain is so bad and is on my right hand that I use for EVERYTHING and it looks as though I may have to just live with it as Doctors not sure if anything can be done. Considering asking for it to be amputated as it is affecting every area of my life - especially sleep!

I have had the same problem for the last 10 days, which is why I am looking for answers before I go to the doctors. Started from nowhere and very painful to bend.Have not knocked or trapped it.

I have since had an MRI, a CT Scan AND an Ultra Sound - what appears to have happened is that the cartilage in my middle knuckle has pretty much gone and their was a bone cyst, which has now disintegrated leaving a sharp bone spur (and a weak joint). This is what is causing the intense pain on bending finger. I will get the full story from the specialist on Monday - but it looks like a form of osteoarthritis (I am only 46!). Might be worth mentioning to your doctor. It has taken me a year to get to this point! It started with - give it a few weeks to heal itself to - take Ibuprofen for 2 weeks - then x-rays - then more x-rays and eventually I got to the bigger machines for closer inspection. Don't be fobbed off by your Doctor - insist on tests because it IS very painful and you use your hands for everything. I have loads of sports and hobbies I can no longer do until I get this darn finger sorted out!

I have the same thing. Just started on Monday so it's only been 4 days. But I don't remember hurting it at all. And only hurts when I push on the knuckle (yeah, I know, so don't do that), or when I bend the pinky finger. I'll go to the doc after hurting for 7-10 days ... if it doesn't go away.
