Please don't waste precious time like I did...12 Drs & 35 yrs later, I've finally found the one Dr who will help with this (and other) GI pain/problems. Years wasted consulting w/various Drs. Few would do anything except tell me "you may have IBS" & "eat more fiber" or "take a laxative." The majority were totally unintereted in getting me properly tested. (Including 3 ER doctors, 2 GI doctors & at least 6 General Family Practitioners.) Finally BEGGED for upper & lower GI testing. My GFP scheduled a lower GI test. Diagnosis: mild Diverticulosis. Made necessary diet changes, but that pain, plus chronic bloating, still persisted. I insisted on seeing a GI Dr. Initially, GI Dr. advised me to "eat more fiber." Didn't help at all, of course. So, he did a colonoscopy & removed 3 pre-cancerous polyps. Still, pain persisted & he wouldn't schedule other procedures or tests. Did return to him 3 years later only so he could check for more polyps. One was removed. I again asked for upper GI tests, but he would only prescribe an IBS Rx. It helped slightly for a couple of months. Finally, totally fed up, I found the BEST GI doctor in my area (via websites w/patitent reviews, ratings, etc. It was also noted this GI Dr. had won numerous Patient Satisfation Awards!) Set up an appt w/her & got in within 3 days! Even tho it was left side pain, she immediately scheduled a complete Upper Abdominal Ultrasound & Pipida Nuclear tests for gallbladder problems. The gallbladder is fine, however, the Ultrasound shows early stage Non Alcohol Related Fatty Liver Disease. (NAFLD.) It can turn into Cirrhosis & there are appx 50 different causes for this particular Liver Disease. The new GI Dr. is now checking ALL of my past & current blood work, UA's, etc. to determine testing & treatment procedures for the Liver Disease & still undiagnosed GI pain. She promised me she would not stop testing until she found the cause & best cures/treatments for both problems. Please don't waste time like I did. The NAFLD may have developed due to years of having an undiagnosed, untreated GI disorder or disease. Hopefully it's correctable or I will be filing lawsuits. Unfortunately, I already have experience w/that, after suing a Cardiologist who accidentally killed my Dad during a cardio procedure. Never again will I waste my time, money & overall health status on ANY Dr. who isn't prepared to do their job correctly. (I just dumped my apathetic GFP, unconcerned former GI Drs. & 2 passive/indifferent Cardiologists. They've been replaced with suitable, responsive, respected physicians : )

Sorry just to add to that Google PCS and if anyone is looking for a differential diagnosis pain on the left that radiates anywhere is else is associated with pancreatic issues or if you've had a recent infection it could be pericarditis
