I get this pain on or just beneath my scalp above my right ear. I do have sinus issues, could this be sinus pain or something more to be concerned about?

It could be sinus pain if this is the only symptom that you have, and you did not bump your head on something while you were sleeping. Try some analgesic like aspirin to see if the pain will go away.
