Hey Guys,

I have had a similar pain it has only happened maybe 5 times this year. It starts in my lower right jaw and feels like it is draining down my throat and into my stomach. It feels sour and acid like it makes my stomach cramp and my ear hurt also. Like I said it does not happen that often so I can not remember what I was doing if I triggered some how. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

If you have these symptomps, especially including coughing, I suggest asking your doctor about a PPI, to help resolve acid reflux. I had all kinds of weird chest/jaw/ear tube pain + coughing, and after starting an acid reducer, they all went away. It can happen at night while you sleep without ever having heartburn, as such. It takes a month or so to really work and the damage and irritation to heal, so don't just give it a week or two and say it dosen't help.

Hello all! I recently took my daughter to a ENT doctor (ear, nose, throat) because she was having similar problems. I was told that it was benign patroid salivia glands. She's scheduled to have a CT done and based upon that the lumps will either be removed surgically or drawn using a small needle. I personally would recommend seeing an ENT doctor. My daughter Dr for awhile was saying the same thing too and saying it would go away on it's own. After consulting back with her about that fact that they haven't gone away I was reffered to the ENT doctor. There's also a lot of info out there on the websites if you type in Patroid gland that sounds similar or related to what most of you have been experiencing. Hope this info helps......

My sore throats and pain started about two years ago. Like the rest of you, I went to the doctor and got the same treatment. I didn't have dental ins. so the dentist was out of the picture, but I didn't think it was a dental problem anyways. It was up to me. Like some of you; milk, cheese and some juices seemed to make it worse. So this is the treatment I gave my self and it worked. I slowed down with the milk and cheese and pretty much all dairy products, and started taking a calcium supplement. I also started taking vitamins (a once a day) and vitamin C tabs. (If you take your vitamins at night, before you go to bed, they work a lot better. Taken during the day, you pee a lot of them out.) I quit smoking and started drinking a lot of water. It sounds kind of Mickey Mouse, but it worked. After about six weeks, the pain was gone. You can't lose.

you may be grinding your teeth at night...which will strain the muscles under the jaw, the jawbone itself and throat muscles...

I had simliar lump/swelling toright of throat next to Adams apple
and hard lumps about an inch under each corner of the jaw, painful to press on.Thought of going to doctors but for some reason decided to drink lots of ordinary tap water over the days.REsult quite dramatic sore throat went and limps reduced in size. Now lumps much smaller and drinking less water. Not sure if lumps normal as quite hidden under the large neck muscle s coming down from below my ears.
PS I didn t just drink lots of water but swelled it around my mouth first

I too have a long term issue (10 months) where the doctors have done all sorts of test and the only thing they found was a over active thyroid producing hormone which means the thyroid itself is underactive. Anyway they though it was a stomach acid issue too. I also get dizzy spells and pains just under my ears and in my neck and a burning sensation in my throat. Although there are no lumps, The problem seems to be related to food as well i.e. meal times, I think I might try the vitamin and no dairy products method.

I have had this bump since yesterday, it suddenly appeared. It hurts a lot, but i have other movable bumps to, a big one(not really big, .25') behind my ear. My gum suddenly had a spot that hurts and is sorta.... decaying I guess would be the word... I have had bumps under my tongue before... But i think that was unrelated, but those hurt and moved too. I found this site helpful in that i see this isn't a medical first, but i hope some of your theories are wrong... i'm to young to be falling apart... (14)

Hi everyone,

I too have finally been diagnosed with TMJ, I have periodontal disease, something powerfully painful and dibilitating that leads a body to exhaustion and imbalence of the "good bacterias" with candida. I am 46 and at risk (lol) for menopause, I have battled perio for 9 years, but it flared up this summer. I had to remove 5 teeth to eliminate the infections in the pockets surrounding my teeth, this lead to jaw muscle pain (the lump under the jaw and behind the ears) The structure is no longer there for my muscle to support the loss of bone that hold the teeth. I had to remove all upper teeth, and I am awaiting the healing time to obtain a denture to help this. It is a combination of serious events that few professionals are even aware of, let alone know how to effectively treat. I have a strong suspicion that osteoporosis and it's progression is responsible. We'll know more when my denture is in in January'07. Good luck finding help, they thought I was just having mental problems, lol.
