So, a quick update. Today I am 3 weeks post op and all is going well. Bms are still a bit 'ouchy', but definitely getting better and the post bm itch isn't lasting as long. My external cut has healed up really well. I've been using a red light therapy unit on it for 2 minutes, 3 times a day and it either works, or I would have just healed like this anyway - who knows? I no longer spend all my Tim lying down, but do sit on a memory foam cushion just for added comfort. Have started work again, but luckily I have my own business so can pace myself. Did some house work yesterday and started packing for our holiday in just over 2 weeks. In myself I feel 100% normal again, and would say my bottom is about 85%-90% there, so all in all, I'm doing well and am very happy. I no longer have a massive prolapse hanging out of my bum, just a few small skin tags - and I can live with them! I've had 2 ops in 3 months and that's me done with surgery hopefully. I'm lucky in that I wasn't in the excruciating pain that some people seem to suffer with, but I'm glad I finally seem to have got things sorted :)

I am an expat in Spain and have just had the op last Monday - I wasnt told in advance about the pain and my doctor has not been very sympathetic. I had internal and externals removed but still have quite a few prolapses left. Apparently cant remove them all due to having enough skin between for healing! Having read all your comments I am now prepared for the continuing pain which came as a shock the first time I BM. My problem is that I also have diviticulitis which makes me have at least 5 movements a day. This has been excrutiatingly painful to the extent I wanted to throw myself off the roof! Should I eat fibre? Will that not make my movements even more frequent. Any advice would be of great help.

, I hasurgery on Oct. 9, 2012, so it is now 18 days post op for me. Yes BMs hurt a lot the first week. They got more reasonable, but still painful after about 10 days. Yes you need to eat fiber but key for me is vegetable based laxative (2 Sennekot ) about 2 hours before dinner and a stool softener capsule (I used Dulcolax) after each meal. A key point is lots of water after each pill and throughout the day. I also tried to walk 3 times a day to help keep things moving, even if just pacing in my room. I had one internal banded, then 2 clusters of hemorrhoids that were removed with scalpel and then sutures. As rubber and came off and as sutures dissolve things get easier. Now I walk about 3 miles per day to help me get stronger.

Hey there, I am a female & I had my operation on 29th April 2015. I had a skin tag cut off plus I had a big hemorrhoid on the inside plus a few small ones which were cut out. My surgeon said my first BM would feel like glass & yep he was correct. Each time i had a BM i was dreading the pain as it bought me to tears. Yesterday Mon 4th May was day 5 & i went back to work in agony, my friends suggested a sea salt bath. That night i sat in a sea salt bath for an had pasta for tea & woke up this morning day 6 feeling great. My first BM this morning only stung a little bit and went away. If your BM were fine prior to your surgery & you had a normal die then stay on that. Use wipes not toilet paper. Buy lignocain over the counter for numbing. Trust me it gets better each day. I can't thank my friends enough telling me about sea salt & i dont feel i have golf balls anymore. I have looked at my operation & happy to say my surgeon did an amazing job. Look at your site because it feels bigger than what it is. Swelling is on inside. Hope this helps anyone that is suffering. ☺

I'm now five days post-op (PPH plus two more internal hems removed plus external skin tag removed).

I have not yet had a BM.

My anal sphincter is clenched like a fist and won't let go despite hot baths, cold compresses, super high fiber diet, fiber supplements, stool softeners, miralax, etc. I feel like I want to go but my sphincter won't unclench to let anything out. Called doctor two days ago and he recommended ibuprofen to reduce swelling....which seems to have had no effect whatsoever.

Any advice would be most welcome as I'm beyond the end of my wits.

Thanks!

I just had my surgery yesterday and the pain is 100 fold today than it was last night when i went to bed. How long will it take for this pain level to subside? Any recommendations on useful position for sitting up to eat etc or laying down. I was told "Do not use a donut pillow)

I had my operation to remove internal and external piles, 4 days ago. First night was great as I still had numbing solution. By lunch time the next day i had my 1st
BM. It was like giving birth all over again, but with no entonox and a hole that's not meant to stretch like your cervix. Agony. Back home. Day 2&3 I basically slept. Today (day 4), has been hell. I feel like a I've got a 5kg weight hanging down from my anal canal and it's being swayed side to side to side with razor blades on the rope. My stomach hurts like a cramp that won't go away. Have had sitz, used tea tree in the water,! Used sudocrem and germoloid. Any more ideas? Sore and painful

Hello, im laying in bed on day 5 of surgery. Im 36 yr male truck driver, weight lifter. Ive had hemmeroids since i was about 24, at least thats whn i realized their was a problem. I got a thrombosed hemmeroid that was right on the outside of the anus. Not sure if ibwas an internal that was prolapsed or an external. Either way it was the side of a jelly bean, putple and hard as a rock. Brought me to tears for about 2 weeks. I cant remember but i think i worked thru the pain. Finally that resolved on its own and went back inside my anus. Then i experienced mior bleeding from a fissure and had rubber band. That process sucked it its own right. Once that healed i guess i was ok but i dealt with the same hemmeroid prolapsing everytime itook a poop. No pain tho and all i had to do was breathe in, and phsh it back up. Did this for years. Finally that same hemmeroid flared up, thromosed to the size of a large grape. Both ends were rock hard and horribly painful. Pushing it in eas impossible as it would just fall right back out. I dealt with the pain for 4 days and hoped it would gonaway but it showed zero change in size or pain. My doctor was blow away but its size and color. The pain of my butt from this thing hanging there and stretching the skin was too much. Again im a trucker, so it was impossible to do my job. Saw a specialist and he wrestling and squeezed it to remove some of the swelling. Icant beleive ididnt pass out from that. He was also blow away by the severity of this hemmeroid and set me up for surgery 2 days later!. The surgery process was scary, since ive never needed one before. I passed out getting the iv for anathesia. Once infinally got carted to the surgery room, they laid me on the operating bench hooked up some monitors and before i knew it iwas being woke up from the nurse. I got carted back to the outpatient area and my mom was called in. I felt no pain, since i was still on anastesia and i could obviously feel there wast a grape hanging out of my ass, which made me happy even tho iwas a mess. About an hour later the pain started to increase and i felt some discomfort. I had 1 external and 1 internal on same side removed. I had to pee, and tried 2 times but couldn't. Even tickling my butt which normally helps me didnt work. So i lied, and said i peed ao i could go home. I got home and after the horrible bumpy ride the pain was reaching pretty high levels. It took 15 minutes to walk up 3 flights to my condo. I used to run up them in 10 seconds. My dog greeted me at the door and jumped on me, causing me to clench my body and clench my anus and the pain was very bad!. My mother ran out to go get me my prescriptions. 50mg nucyunta and some cortizone to squeeze up my ass. The pain meds didnt seem to really kill the pain completely, i guess i could have taken more butni dont like taking sh*t like that and didnt want constipation! I laid on couch, out ice on my chode, prostate area which helped. Started drinking tons of gatorade and had some toast with butter a yogurt and aome fiber pills. Within an hour the oain was pretty bad and throbing and i had spasims high up in the anus which made me contract and feel pain everytime i pray i havent had a cough or sneeze. It would be torture!!! I laid id my first hot bath, and relaxed. My bladder was so full, and i finally peed. It was a small dribbly stream and it hurt as i need to contract a lot. A few baths later i was peeing like a horse and less of a problem. 1st night i got zero sleep. Night 2 i slept better as i took a sleeping pill, but soaked the sheets in sweat. Day 4 came my first poop. Ive gad the sensation since early day 3 but it really felt like it was ready now. I sat on the toilet and took a breathe and ran the tub, and looked at my phone. The poop started to come and the pain was incredible. One arm was used to brace myself as i lifted half my butt off the seat. When i was done, there was no blood and it wasnt very big. It felt like it would have been the size of a paper towel roll. I got up and used a mirror to look at the wound and it looked ok. I was out of breath and shakey. Ran a hot bath and relax for 30 minutes. Took vitamins, pain pill, fiberpill, had a coffee and some cereal. Did nothing all day but walk down stairs to get mail and sit in my car for 20 minutes and play with the stereo. Day 5 now and i woke up from night sweats again, and had poop #2 even more painful than the first with some blood and has now caused spasims and pain for the next 5 hours. Going to doctor today to get short term disability papers filled out. I cant even imagine doing my job for 5 minutes let alone 14 hours a day. Thats bout all i have for now. It hasnt been terrible where i feel like ending my life but this is definalty no fun. My friends like to joke about how i should tell my boyfriend to use more lube next time. I love the guys but if this ever happens to them im going to seceretly be laughing my ass off while theyre going thru the same sh*t

Just had some removed 5 days ago. Lawd BMs do hurt but what has helped me is following BM with a sitz bath and either Balmex or original prepH. Lots of water and fiber. Keep up the stool softeners. Unscented baby wipes helps with clean up. I also found it helps to stay consistent with regular Tylenol. I only take Norco at bedtime for sleep and pain. Too much can make you constipated. Looking forward to the day when there is no pain. I feel for ya. Also, I know this sounds gross, but if you have a BM in one of the toilet sitz baths it helps tremendously. Just be sure to clean it really well after!
