My husband had an acute attack of Pancreatitis last March. Since then he constantly has a dull pain in his stomach. Nothing like the initital onset but noticable and annoying. His blood sugar runs anywhere from 160 to over 300 somedays. He is taking several kinds of medicine, but nothing is really helping his sugar problems. Is this a problem that will be forever and what can we do to find out if he has permanant damage to the pancreas and will he always be sick. He wasn't diabetic until he had the first onset. His came from years of drinking and he has very high cholesterol and tryglycerides. I am afraid his pancrease permantly damaged. Will he be sick forever. Is this fatal?

You described my husband. He stopped taking all his meds and he has lost 40 lbs (not because he is trying) I worry about him all the time. I would like know if this is fatal and what to expect. He has lost all his muscle tone. His blood sugar has been over 600 and I wonder what keeps him from going in to a coma.
