Just a quick back story, my mum has already suffered from depression years back but has been stable since. In october '21 she had the mirena coil inserted for her heavy bleeding, however this did not suit her so naturally the GP told her to take the birth control pill. She took this until January '22, a week after stopping ahe has been experiencing extremely bad panic attacks, she feels like she is going crazy and feels like it is all her fault. It has been a month now we do see slight improvement but the panic attacks and feelings remaining numb are still apparent. is there anyone that can help with a rough timeline for how long this lasts and what can help?
this forum has helped us a lot to see she is not alone but we were wondering how long it will take for her body to go back to "normal".
When a person stops taking birth control pills, their body may need some time to adjust to the hormonal changes. It's essential to note that the time it takes for the body to return to normal after stopping birth control can vary from person to person.
For some individuals, their hormonal levels may return to normal relatively quickly, within a few weeks or a couple of months. However, for others, it might take a bit longer, possibly a few months to even up to a year or more.
During this adjustment period, some women may experience side effects or changes in their menstrual cycle, including irregular periods, mood swings, and even panic attacks or increased anxiety. These symptoms are usually temporary and should improve as the body adapts.
It's important to remember that birth control affects individuals differently, and some women may choose to stop using it for various reasons, such as family planning, changes in health needs, or side effects. Before making any decisions about birth control, it's best to discuss your concerns and preferences with a healthcare provider who can provide you with accurate information and help you find the best option for your specific needs and health.
