I would say to everyone here that it must have something to do with the way the body is processing alcohol and sugar and creating a blood sugar disturbance which causes the numbness/tingling. I get it too, only mildly in my right cheek/lip. I would say to us all, perhaps it's not a good idea to drink alcohol, or perhaps try taking drinking a lot of water, or take chromium when consuming alcohol which helps balance the blood sugar.

This happens to me quite often whenver I drink, hence why i don't drink much anymore, also cigarettes do not help. I went to the doctor for it and i actually turns out to be anxiety from what theyve told me. Due to the dehydration from drinking, even if not much your body goes in to panic mode and generates adrenaline that is actually not needed in your body at the time. You go into "fight or flight" mode, when it is unnecesarry and your body overloads and reacts in the way of numbness and tingling. Whenever I do have a regular panic attack, not due to drinking its the same effect. I have tinglig in my lips and fingers and jaw when they start to come on. They prescribed me Xanax, and everytime I have these feelings I take a small .25 mg Xanax and the feeling is gone in about 10-15 minutes. I stopped taking the medicine for the fact that I don't want to be on prescriptions whatsoever so now I just limit my drinking, if you smoke it doesn't help your heart out either. Your body goes into panic mode and your heart starts working over time and Cigarettes stimulants make it even worse, and if you smoking more during drinking it is worse at least for me.

Im still on the search for another answer, but this is what my doctor has diagnosed me with when I went in for this same exact problem. Their biggest answer for the cure was to simply stop drinking, it dehydrates me too much. I usually have a thirst that cannot be quenched to begin with and am always drinking water. Hope this helps, but I am still on the search for a better answer then, take a pill and problem goes away.

I woke up New Years Day Jan1 2013, with left side facial numbness.  I has drank wine the night before.    A few days later went for a CAT scan & blood work. No sign of stroke and electrolytes were perfect.

I laid off alcohol for about two weeks, then tried 2 glasses of wine and numbness returned.   I went to a neurologist for tests - all negative.

I went my chiropractor and the x rays showed some trauma to the C4 of the neck.  (I had neck pain years before and this chiropactor's treatments worked).  My numbness went away almost immmeditely after the treatments.

Last night, I drank 2 beers and woke up with some numbness in left side of face.   Another factor,  I was severely sleep deprived for a week due to my job.   I slept very heavy for 13 hours, so my neck/body position my be a factor.  (The first time occurred, I had sleep very heavy as well).

The numbness only starts after I have been alseep and wake up the next day.

Any input from you veterans of this condition would be welcomed and appreciated

Also happens to me,, 1st time It happened to me when I drank 2 days straight then the next day after the mass I can't feel anything starting from my hands to my face and then the whole body after a few seconds I threw up then started to feel better til the numbness worns off Me and my cousin assumes that this happened due to extreme heat here in DOHA Qatar we're inside the car when it happened to me And the AC does not work properly this time. but when it happened to me again for the second time after drinking again for 2 days the next day inside the car again Good Condition AC . I started to think this was the result of excessive drinking, which I experience everytime I drink 2 days in a row w/out sleeping, or eating. so after a few incidents whenever My hands or my face goes Numb I always try to eat something or force myself to eat something cause whenever I have a Hangover I can't eat til the effect worns off . So Whenever my face or hands starts getting numb I just eat , drink plenty of water , then relax my body on a couch or in bed . 1 more thing whenever my whole body gets numb I always start to feel my body back after throwing up.

Im also expreriencing this.. After i drink alcohol and woke up i'll get that numbness all over my face, and next it will go down all over my body. i do some research about that. And this is what ive got.

What is Alcoholic Neuropathy?

Alcohol can be toxic to nerve tissue. People who drink too much may start to feel pain and tingling in their limbs. This is known as alcoholic neuropathy. In people with alcoholic neuropathy, the peripheral nerves have been damaged by too much alcohol use. The peripheral nerves transmit signals between the body, the spinal cord, and the brain.

Thiamine, folate, niacin, vitamins B6 and B12, and vitamin E are all needed for proper nerve function. Drinking too much can alter levels of these nutrients and affect the spread of alcoholic neuropathy. Fortunately, abstaining from alcohol can help restore your nutritional health. This may improve your symptoms and help prevent further nerve damage. However, some alcohol-induced nerve damage is permanent.

This tingling is caused by the blood vessels dilating. Ever see flushed cheeks in drunks?

If you must have an immediate cure- try an ice/cool pack. Works for me.

Having to ice your face after a night of drink is counterproductive, no?

If alcohol causes problems maybe it is the problem too....
