Hello. I am only 36 six years old and I have been suffering from some symptoms that are so alike with the menopause symptoms. I think I am too young for menopause. I have been getting waves of feeling extremely hot a few times a day, and my periods are changing, sometimes being pretty light, sometimes they would come at all. I talked to my best friend and she told me this is perimenapause. I didn’t even know this existed. Can you tell me more about it? Thx

Well, this does sound like a perimneopause. It is actually a transitional stage of two to ten years before complete cessation of the menstrual period. It can appear in women from 35 to 50 years of age. This is the period when a gradual decrease of estrogen is going on. The most common symptoms are: menstrual cycles become shorter, longer, or unpredictable, flow becomes heavier or lighter, low blood sugar, you may experience fatigue several days before menstruation, weight gain, decreased sex drive, headaches, dry or itchy vulva and clitoris. They are very similar to those in menopause. I was lucky enough not to experience any but my friend used some natural supplements to relive her symptoms.
