I have this issue in my left ear. I noticed the morse code tapping as well. Especially in the evenings at night with the television on the morse code is the worse when either music or a drum or even talking will trigger it. But it stops when the music or talking on the TV stops. This is indeed an annoyance. Certain days are worse than others. It comes and goes. I have to be still and quiet for it to happen.

Pulsatile tinnitus for sure, you get use to it and most of the time your "brain" selectively filters it but on occasions, lying in the wrong position or if you have a head cold/ sinus infection it gets a little more annoying; I've have had it for years ( not to make a pun) and seen numerous specialists in numerous countries and disseminating their combined opinions it is only worth having surgery if it becomes "tortuous" and very loud and then the surgery is not without some possibility of leaving you with other problems, which might not be as bad as the original problem if the original problem was severe if you know what I mean; which really says don' t have surgery if you can live with it.

I am interested to find out if anyone has found a 'cure' to the constant morse code effect in right ear. I have had this now for 2 years. I found that it stopped when I was in a dry warm climate but immediately returned when in the UK. It only 'clicks' when I lay on right side and immediately stops when I lay on my left side. Also plugging left ear and sleeping on right side helps stop the clicking sound. I have any nasal sprays, ear drops and nothing has stopped it yet. Driving me mad. As for spirits .. are you having a laugh.... It's not tinnitus but I hope whoever has this as well has found a remedy.

I have had this in right ear for months. I have found that when I go to bed at night I press the botttom part of my ear, just up from the lobe, for about three minutes, and the sound stops, its like flicking a switch.
In the morning when I wake it is still gone. When I get ua and move about it comes on again. This happens like clockwork. I have experimented by laying down during the day and going through thr ear pressing procedure and it stops. When I get up and walk about it comes on again.
So perhaps its mechanical in some way. Hope this helpts fellow sufferers

I have had this same "morse code" sound in my ears for several years now. It comes and goes. My doctor told me it is tiny spasms inside the ear and to avoid caffeine and to try some relaxation exercises. I do notice it worsens if i am stressed or taking in a lot of caffeine. I also have tmj on the same side as the ear thing and i think the two are related.

Oh my gosh!!! I've had what you've described for as long as I can remember. At first I thought it was as a result of water in my ears and I'd clean, dry, etc but no luck!!!! It's worse now and weirdly, it's only in my left ear. I most certainly don't know what it is but it drives me nuts and can't watch anything on my tablet when lying on my left side with my head on the pillow. I hear everything quite well, I haven't any ringing in my ears whatsoever, and I try to clean my ears often. There's certainly something wrong or something in my ears, maybe a spider or something???? It is freaky listening to morse code type taps every time. Anybody with some type of explanation..? It's not Tinnitus cause it's most certainly not a ringing or a noise. It's tapping like an electric twitch inside the ear and it's very hard to explain. I tried to explain to an audiologist but she couldn't understanding it...

I was pretty confident she had a rare condition called superior semicircular canal dehiscence, which occurs when a pore the size of a pinhead forms in the inner ear. It can cause hearing loss, dizziness, and a strange amplification of internal sounds, so patients hear their own heartbeat or digestive noises—some even say they hear their eyes “squeaking” when they look around. The condition was discovered only in the late 1990s."
