Im 16 and i have had this problem for as long as I can remember. I am overwight and its extremly embarising. Its always there and I have tried blackhead cleansers, soap, scrubbing. It just doesnt seem to go away. Im trying to find the answer to make it fade or go away which would be amazing :-). Its hard for me to go swimming or wear my track uniform bc of this. Hi Ladies,
I actually have suffered from the same condition since I gained a large amount of weight at one point when I set goals to devote $500 to each of my problemed areas (which when I was younger I thought was every part of my body). So I purchased 8 dermabrasion sessions specifically for my innter thigh area. At that time my inner thighs were basically much darker than the rest of my olive skin. I was embarassed ofcourse but the sessions gave me practically new thighs. The blackheads have comeback but never as bad as they originally were and it has been 4 years. I have become much more accepting of my flaws and this issue no longer effects my sex life. I think that is the ticket do what you can to improve it but just accept yourself and be proud, better there then on your face.

Hey,
I wanted to say some things.. especially to newbie... the "chubrub" is Acanthosis nigricans. I have the same problems and the same problems with boils that alot of you have. If you are female one thing you might look into is Polycystic ovarian syndrome. Its a widespread syndrome with lots of symptoms the main being cysts on the ovaries. In my case I had normal (extremely heavy) but normal periods until my freshman year of college when I hit my maximum weight of 250. This stopped my periods and after a year of convincing my mother that something was wrong with me and I needed to go to the gyno. That was when my gyno did an ultrasound and found that I had cysts on my ovaries and that was preventing me from ovulating thus getting my period. I have done research after research trying to find a solution for my problems. As far as the PCOS there definitely is not a magical cure. The only thing that helps is losing weight and women with pcos have a much harder time losing weight. I forgot to mention that one of the main things with pcos is insulin resistance which is pretty much where you have to much insulin in your body.. well.. high insulin levels (diabetes) is related to boils. So one can figure out that boils are also linked and should be considered (though it is not) a symptom of pcos. As far as boils go.. there definitely isnt a magical cure.. no matter what "special remedy" or antibiotic you use.. it has to come to a head and rupture.. Unfortunately, we all have the insecurities that come with the scars, the constant pain, and the embarrassment. I was put on bactrim ds once again a few weeks ago (though I am convinced it does not help me). One of the two boils i had went away one just went down, but tonight I found another one. I have a boyfriend who does love me inspite of my problems, but he doesnt understand them. He thinks that im lazy because I dont want to go to the gym but its really that I don't want to sweat and get another boil... So I let him think what he wants even though I have tried to explain. You will find someone who loves you and sometimes if you explain to them what the problems are and let them know that you really dont have any control over it not only will it help them understand but it will make you feel better and not be as self concious about it. If they love you, they arent going to leave you over small things that you can help (though they may seem like big things to you). If they do leave you.. trust me they werent worth your love. I hope maybe this helps some of you.. try doing a google search about pcos if you think it might be an answer for you.
Hugs and Hope,
Blair

OHhh yea.. Ladies.. I forgot to mention.. this goes to Newbies post as well... Its about intimacy.. the darkened skin.. Guys have it toooo! In fact my boyfriend has it.. he is overweight.. and it goes back to what I said earlier about the insulin/diabetic stuff. So don't worry so much.. you might find that you and your partner have things in common. :-) I dont believe much in wikipedia but this article seems to have gotten everything correct so I will leave you with it!

Hello ladies. I had meant to post this message to this topic but when I finally created my account and logged in I couldn't find it anymore. So here it is again:
Wow! I can't believe as many women have had this same skin issue as me. For years I've been dealing with it. Doctors say its weight, but when I was thinner I had them. I've been to regular MD's, Dermatologists and natural healers. No one has been able to give me clear answers or give me a remedy that truly works. I'm 37 now and it's only gotten worse. I too have lots of scarring. Sometimes the large red boils are very painful - and now they are spreading to my buttocks and to the back of my legs below my buttocks.
I didn't realize it is a real disorder - Hidradenitis suppurativa. So thank you to the women who posted here and offered advice. I have been washing that area with an anti-bacterial wash, but I have to use it every day. I didn't know about the tea trea oil or black shea soap - so I'll give those a try as well. I was wondering - what about an anti-bacterial powder? I was reading online that zinc gluconate supplements can help reduce breakouts. So I was thinking I'd try the following:
1) clean the area with anti-bacterial wash (or 100% tea tree oil)
2) apply an antibiotic powder, there is in fact a ZINC OXIDE POWDER
HAS ANYONE TRIED A POWDER? I'm gonna give it a try and keep you posted.

I am a 17 year old fmale and I've had the same issue I have been emberassed about this situation . It always bugs me and makes me feel like I can't wear shorts because someone might see them... It always upsets me and I'm not that big I'm about 5'0 tall and 140 lb. I don't understand why this happens to me but I'm assuming that it might be beacuse I have chubby legs and they rub ito each other a lot when I walk .. Other than the boils pimples and the black heads I also the get vaginal sweating!! Its horrible when I'm in class I have to put a sweater on my chair so you can't see the sweat marks I leave. I feel like I'm sick or something. I don't know what to do with the whole sweating thing. I can't wear pants that are too thin because it goes thru more or I can't just sit in a chair with out leaving my mark :/ can anyone help me ..?

Hey, I've had a similar problem, with the boils and things on my inner thighs and I was always concerned I had some STD or something (even though i was and still am a virgin) but when I started losing weight (I was reallly overweight) They stopped popping up. There are still some scars, but I haven't had the problem for a long time now. I hope this helps.

I am glad that someone has brought this topic out of the closet. I have been struggling with this problem since I was a teen and I am in my 40's. I not only get this in my inner thighs, I also get them in my arm pits. I have tried almost everything, drying myself off with the hair dryer, heating pads, hot wash clothes, hot baths, just to make them come to the surface to pop them with a needle. I know that is the wrong thing to do, but it is the only thing I can do to get rid of the pain, mainly under the arms. There are days that I feel that I am 13 again, when I look at my face. I even had one so bad on my back that the doctor had to open it, had to pack it for several days to let it drain, and I had to teach my daughter how to do the packing to keep the opening clean. I am just tired of having this problem. But I am glad that I am not the only one going through this. But I will try the alcohol remedy that someone suggested. Any other tips will be grateful. :-D

Alrighty girls, again ...im another girl with this problem, im 20 years old and ive had them EVER since i started gaining weight, my sister also has this problem some believe it is hereditary. I went to the doctor one time, when the really big scare of merca was going around , to get checked out because i had a bump right under my arm, and he told me i had feliculitus, which is an ingrown hair disease, so maybe if you keep between your legs and buttocks clean and hairless, the this will maybe help the problem. Theres always some between my leg that bubbles up and just fills like a big knot inside, and now i have one RIGHT in my panty line, which is very aggrivating and tender, i dont know if anyone else has had this happen before, but sometimes when im walking, its like one just all of a sudden sets on FIRE and starts burning and itching if i walk the wrong way...well now that ive done a little research on it, ive started taking vitamin pills daily, also because all i wear are long skirts (religious thing) my legs are constantly rubbing right on top of each other.so im wearing leggings so that my legs arent rubbing RIGHT on each other, and it seems to be helping a little bit, also when you start to mess with them and scratch and squeeze them, does anyone else have after pain, to where it just tender to the touch?..i do sometimes ill just squeeze JUST a little and it aches for atleast 30 seconds afterwards...very very tender and very embarrising for me. also sometimes if i pop them, they start to get dry skin around it , and i cant help but pill the skin/scab off and it makes it worse SO DONT PULL the scab off of it if it scabbs up..i know that sounds nasty, but im just trying to help you, haha...i hope those few ideas helped more then it grossed you out haha...good luck girls and just remember your not the only one with this problem, if your ever confronted about it during an "intimate" time ..make sure you let them know that its NOT an STD because it will worry them, just simply tell them its a sensitive spot on your body because of sweat, rubbing, and vulumpiousness.. :-)

My mother and I have been dealing with this problem for as long as I can remember I only wish more was being done in my life time to come up with some kind of cure or help at the least I can say that I am almost 30 and haven't taken my children to any water parks because they require you to wear bathing suits there and I haven't worn one of them since I was probally ten it is very embarising and uncomfortable thankfully I have a wounderful husband who I'm sure would want a beauty queen yet is ok with loving who is on the inside as far as the bedroom talk ect. I feel more comfortable most of the time when enjoyed in the dark my theory is at least he dosen't have to look at my skin evan if he can feel the bumps ect. I have tried almost every remedy there is I swear and alchol dosen't work either mostly using none fregrant soaps evan laundry detergent does seem to help min the the problem but surley no cure doc. no true cure to my knowledge yet either I was pregnant with my first child when I asked if this could be passed on to them and they said it is definitley hereditary yet more prone in women but my son got bad acne black heads boils on back chest and under his belly as well as normal acne on his face the doc. recomended Acutane and so far it has cleared completely but if you are not insured its very exspensive my brother also has it in the same areas my son had it so I am wondering if it my help for women under arms breast and thigh areas doctors say no but I feel my son inherited this from me and so far it is seeming to work for him but I do know that women who can get pregnant should not take it because it can cause birth defects I have writtin down the tea tree oil to try that is one I havent yet also thanks to all who took the time to write about there exsperinces it helps make a person not feel so alone

Hey Everyone! Thank you for all the people who have replyed to the first post!! I'm a just turned 16 year old and again I'm overwieght not hugly just not skinny. Anyway, I have finaly thught about contacting my doctor or searching online. As you can we I ened up searching online. For many years now i have had balckheads on the insides of my thighs and I have never told anyone. To me I just thought maybe that i was the problem, that it was just me, i guess I was too scared to talk about it with anyone else. Once I read all of what everyone on here said. I'm final going to do something about it. I'm going to first try the Clean and Clear blackhead Eraser, and if that dosen't work i'll go to my doctor. I'm just talking to all those girls and or boys who has these. I'm totally with you! I know how you feel, so your not a lone and it's not just you, and you can really talk to people. Maybe if you have really close friends talking or askign them might help. GOOD LUCK everyone!

What you guys are experiencing is called Hidradentitis Supprativa.
I've suffered from it since I was about seven or eight. It's a very deep form of acne, that's why it causes deep cysts and boils, as well as black heads and pustules. Scarring from the boils can lead to tracts under the skin, so that's why sometimes they reappear in the same places. Due to over a decade of messing with it, I also have scarring in my crotch and armpits (pitting, etc). There is little that can be done about this. If the tracts are severe, they can be surgically removed, but this is an extreme measure.
The reason it only occurs in your crotch/armpit/breast area is because there are certain kinds of sweat glands (apocrine glands) that start secreting at puberty (this is what causes B.O), so often people start having boils, etc at puberty.
I've been seeing dermatologists about HS as long as I have had it; unfortunately there is no hard and fast cure. Taking antibiotics during an outbreak can help, or continuous antibiotics (like Doryx) are often an option, but there is nothing guaranteed to work. Steroid injections may also be administered to the boil.
HS can be extremely painful; it is difficult to have to sit or exercise when you have a boil the size of a golf ball on the your bum. I think we can all consider ourselves lucky, as it sounds like we have mild to moderate cases. Many cases can be debilitating. It isn't a very common disease, it affects only about 2% of the population, but dermatologists and family doctors are familiar with it, boils are pretty common.
If you are especially bothered, a simple anti inflamatory (like Advil, Tylenol, Aleve) will help with the inflammation and the pain. A warm compress will also help, and is soothing. If it is too hot, it may cause it to expand and burst. If it does burst or you decide to drain it, be sterile. I have suffered the repercussion of non sterile draining; it can cause more infection and terrible scarring, along with being very painful. Just make sure to keep it clean with antibacterial soap and water, and apply neosporin and band aids regularly.
I hope this has been helpful. I think a lot more people suffer from this and are poorly educated on it. I am lucky enough to have a nurse for a mother, who is also a sufferer of HS.

Wow...I cry all the time...just thinking about the things I can not do.I see girls wearing swim suits, wearing shorts...etc,and I feel sad because I'm not able to,you know.I always thought it was weight problems, but now I know that it's really not.I believe I have that disease one of you guys mentioned. It really did fit me.Some of the photos of the disease was extreme -- my condition is not that bad.But the pimples on the breasts, inner thighs fits me well.Im really depressed by this.My mom once mentioned it to a doctor, but he seemed disgusted and was like..."I don't know.I will be back with the medicine for her fever".He was so cold, and made me feel nasty[ although I baths everyday and especially my thigh area].I actually was embarrassed and got mad with my mom for telling him.Of course she didn't care and said,"It will make me feel less than a mother if I did not tell him.I will not sit here and let you die" lol it was something along those lines.Im really depressed by this, and im too ashamed to see a doctor. In another year or so,I will be turning eighteen, and that means I have to get a pap test.Ugh,my life is ruined.

I have this problem also, on my inner thighs, and under my arms, i think i was around 18 or 19 when i started getting the boils, and the blackheads. i was also diagnosed with HS. a couple weeks ago i got one under my breast, and it was so painful i had to go to the emergency room, they lanced it, and put me on antibiotics. i found out that i had staph invection, but not MRSA it was a staph cause by one of the boils getting infected.after i took the pills they seemed to get better, but they are coming back. i agree that the scars are horrible, nobody has ever said anything i try to cover them up, but it does limit certain intimate moments, unless you are completely comfortable with ur partner. im just glad like most of you that i am not the only one. i mean all i can think is why me. its a very hard condition to live with.
