My dad has pleural effusion and had some of the fluid drained. The fluid was tested negative for malignant cells.

He has also been experiencing weight lost. Have recently lost a few kilos.

He did a CT scan and no tumor/mass was diagnosed.

He has a congenetial heart defect, which we thought might have affected the lungs but according to the cardio, his heart is still the same.

So the doctors are puzzled to why there is an inflammation in the lungs.
That seems to be quite an unusual situation to be in. I wish there was some sort of insight I could provide but I am baffled myself as to what the situation could possibly be. The best I can do at this point is just offer my words of support and hope that they find the cause of this as soon as possible. In any case, is anyone out there more experienced in this? What is the congenital heart defect? Is there anyone who can offer more insight? Thanks again for posting. Keep us posted on his situation.
