I need some help please. I am diagnosed with Polyarteritis Nodosa. At the moment my treatment consists of 0,5mg Aspen Colchicine tablets, twice a day. I am still breaking out a lot (blue marks on my legs, arms and hands). It is very painful, and for some reason, my legs swell if I stand or walk too much. Anybody with this disease, please let me know if this is normal (medication and the breakouts) Will this get better? I feel great in the mornings, but after 4pm in the afternoons, I start to pain (my whole body - almost like when you have flu) and my muscles feel stiff and all that works is a hot bath. I also feel light headed (like low sugar or blood pressure) Is this normal?

It's normal... My father had Polyarteritis, survived 10 years, it started with him in 1971, he died at 56 in 1981, their were only nine known cases in the U.S. when he caught this in 1971, a month before he past away they told him between the disease and the meds that it effected his heart. He had the pains, the black and blue marks from the veins breaking, this never went away, some days were better than others. Maybe they have more answers today or better meds, best wishes.

I have this disease as well. I experience much of the same - mornings are great and by the time afternoon or evening hits I am almost unable to stand due to burning sensations esp if i have been on my feet all day. Nodule sites are tender for fresh inflammation and on occasion slight muscle weakness almost flu-like. I have not opted for medication as yet so I will see how it progresses over time.
