Hi, all,
I stumbled upon these boards when I was searching Google for information about Adult Tonsillectomies. I had chronic Tonsillitis which led to a Tonsillectomy on March 21, 2013. I'm four weeks and one day downstream of the surgery. I experienced the normal complications for the first week following the surgery but quickly began feeling better again after that first week passed. (It is a horrible recover for adults, but it's not impossible! ;-)) I still have the occasional sensation of having a cotton ball stuck in the back of my throat, and it hurts a bit to yawn . . . That's not what I'm concerned about, though.
On Tuesday, I noticed my throat was a little sore; it wasn't that post-Tonsillectomy sore, it felt like a 'normal' sore throat. I also started to lose my voice. In addition, I had a strange feeling in my throat. The best way I can describe the feeling is by comparing it to when my [now removed] tonsils were enlarged and interfering with my swallowing. Curious, I took a look in my throat and was surprised to notice two bulb-like growths on each side of my throat, in the tonsil beds, in the proximity of where my tonsils once were. They've grown quickly and are now both the size of a large pea. They're sore, I'm acutely aware of them as I can feel them when I breathe and swallow, and as I already stated, I've lost my voice.
What are these growths? I realize tonsils can grow back, but this seems a little premature. (It would certainly be my luck, though. o.O) Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, what was the cause? I'm going to call the ENT tomorrow to speak with his nurse about what this could be.
Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
