Wow lane. I too am a pain baby. I had my tonsils out last week Friday at 26years. And I am forced to go back to work tomorrow. Although the pain has reduced I can't speak properly. Everyone told me to eat toast and lots of ice cream. But I couldn't survive on toast and ice cream, ice cream makes me vomit and toast made my throat sore. I tried eating scrambled eggs and jelly (jell-o) and it made my healing process faster. I'm recovering well, just experiencing a bit of earache.
What I'm wondering is if I can wash my hair with.

Had mine removed one week ago today. Was rough night one (had to stay overnight due to sleep apnea) until nurse brought me any ice pack to put around neck. It was uphill from that point on. Must stay hydrated that is the key to reduce swelling and speed recovery. Did well on the 6th day was rough due to ear pain. Doctor said add a humidifier and within a couple of hours I have not had any more issues. Surgery one week ago today. Just overcoming the drainage and all is well. Not pain melds since yesterday evening, only taking the antibiotic

This really made me feel better and more brave about my tonsillectomy next week. Same issue as u, tonsil stones, redness, swollen. Post op doesn't sound so bad I guess as long as I don't bleed. In ready to have the mother of all sore throats to end sore throats for good. -Erica 32

I had my tonsils out 9 days ago. The first 4 days was quite painful and sleeping was difficult as I was very restless. 5th day onwards I had an easier time sleeping through the night but would wake up in agony due to the pain and throat dryness. I started trying to eat more solid food a couple days in which I think has really helped me recover faster. Ear pain was very bad the first week...just make to drink plenty of water even though it hurts, eat nutritional food (not just soups), keep taking pain medication every 4-6 hours and get ice packs (these were my saviour). Make sure to get the soft ice packs that can freeze or also be warmed up. They do wonders. Get 2 of them so you always have a cold one in the freezer. These really helped me get rest at night. I really miss having coffee so I think I might try having some today. I think most of the scabs have fallen off the back of my throat so my breath isn't as fetid anymore, thank god. Good luck to everyone :) it'll be worth it!

I found applesauce and yogourt very soothing also. On day 2 and already made the best-tasting garlic mashed potatoes I've ever eaten. Very proud of myself.
AND YES, keep hydrated is KEY. I've drinking lots of ice water as well as iced coconut water which is much better than Gatorade because of all the added sugar.
Also, regarding the pain, you can increase the dose of your pain meds as needed. I combined my oxycodone/APAP with Ibuprofen 600mg and worked wonders. I did consult with my surgeon though and he ok'd it.
