My 75 yr old grams just had a pacemaker placed and is now having throbbing elbow pain on the side of the pacemaker. What could it be? Thanks
If this was a new implant - a venogram is sometime requested and carried out via injetion of contrast (dye) through the brachial vein IV usually the mid arm on same side of the body where the pacemaker is to be inserted. In some patient this procedure causes mild pain at the injection site but usually do not last for more than a few mintutes. Is there any swelling or redness above or around the elbow? If so was there an IV? She may have developed an infection
