I have been suffering from Post Pardum depression since I gave birth to my daughter almost 4 months ago.My doctor prescribed me medication which works really well , but I'm worried about coming off of it.I'm afraid that I will not be able to handle my children as well without the medicine as I have with it.However I am sick and tired of everyone criticising me for taking it.People look at me as if I'm an unfit mother because of my depression.I don't know what to do about it but I want what is best for my babies and to be the best possible mother I can be.
First off good on you for realising what was drong and going to the dr about it. There is absolutly nothing wrong with getting help for Depression. I have Post natal depression too and have been on medication for about 5 months. When you feel ready to stop taking it your dr will work out a plan of cutting it back very slowly so that you hardly notice. It takes a while to get completely better and it will take a while to get of the pills too. I can't believe people are giving you a hard time about it, There is nothing wrong with people who have depression its just something that happens to alot of people but no one ever talks about so you are automatically but in the "bad mother group", dont let these people get to you, you would probably be suprised just how many people are on anti depressants!!!
Good luck and take it slowly its a horrible thing to deal with and it takes time to recover.
