I’ve reported to my gynecologist abdominal vaginal bleeding. It was intermenstrual bleeding, that’s why I was worried and visited my doctor. Also abdominal pain occurs. I’m afraid of infertility or some other diseas. He told me it is chronic endometritis so I want to know something about that.
Endometrial inflammation can be categorized as acute, fibrotic or chronic. Acute endometritis is caused by infection, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, but it may also occur in immediate postpartum state. These conditions may lead to chronic endometritis. Chronic endometritis can be granulomatous or nongranulomatous or nonspecific. It is usually incidentally found on a biopsy done for reasons unrelated to the condition itself. Abdominal vaginal bleeding is the most commonly reported symptom. This bleeding can occur as intermenstrual, spotting, postocital bleeding or menorrhagia. Amenorrhea was reportedin 21% of women. Chronic endometritis may be caused by many pathologic processes. It’s characterized by edema, hemorrhage and infiltration with neutrophils, eosynophils and lymphocytes.
My 27 year old daughter was diagnosed with endometritis 2 years ago and went on to have surgery. She has now become pregnant and is 10 weeks. She is suffering with abdominal pain and I am worried as to whether this is related to her endometritis Angie
I have just been through the process of finding the cause of my insane heavy bleeding which has so far lasted 11 weeks. One week ago I was given a D&C and had some tests taken during that. My report came back as "chronic endometritis" but when the doctor was prescribing antibiotics for me, he mentioned PID (Pelvic Inflammatory disease), so I'm unsure if it is the same thing, or not.
Regardless, the bleeding has slowed to only 1/4 what it was in the 4 days I have been taking the antibiotics, so that shows a good sign. I was also fitted with a Mirena IUD during the D&C procedure, so that could be slowing the bleeding as well.
Googling PID turned up a few rather unpleasant results, so make sure you check up on the effects of both.. just in case it's just 2 words for the same thing.
