My mother in law had hers remoived and ended up with tracheotomy as a result dvocal chords and has been in hospital for a month ,puree food only and struggles to swallow .Not good at a!l
I had a total thyroidectomy back in August 2017 so less than 4 months ago.. I am struggling to swallow, it feels like someone is poking my throat around the Adam's Apple area. I've tried doing exercises recommended by my GP but thing that helps most is to put my hand on my upper chest and push upwards..hot drinks are easier to swallow than cold water but like a lot of you, I am really struggling with meat. I work in a school and during half term holiday things were much better and I suspect the problem is straining my much weaker voice over the noise of the children in my class. I think I am also developing a cold which maybe isn't helping. The seroma (swelling) over the scar has already pretty much disappeared so I was hoping the swallowing issue would disappear with it... Feeling a bit fed up and not sure if I should go back to my GP or not. Consultant has discharged me. Reading some other comments, I realise that my problems are not as severe as some of you and maybe I am not giving myself enough time...
as a 10-time survivor of cancer, I have endured the worst 2 thyroid surgeries from cancer, brain tumor removed, skin cancers, stomach skin cancer, scalp cancers, all caused me to stay alive but I have a nervous condition, panic disorder, breathing disorder, and terrible swallowing issues. sometimes I chew food and spit it out when anxiety attacks come. If you want the steak that bad, taste it, chew alittle and spit it out, or take a sentitive to relax, eat and swallow, but never give into cancer. keep coming up with your own tactics and pass it on. visit ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of web addresses is not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use a book coming out this 2018
I have exactly same symptoms so far no answer, I figure since I also have Gerd this caused it. I cant keep levels up and constantly changing dosage. Would like to know if this is damaging my overall health.
My wife is having frequent choke-up problems when she drinks. She had her thyroid removed because of cancer. She is taking levothyroxine every day. Does she need to stop drinking?
