I've had my tonsils out three years ago, wisdom teeth out last summer and i have this terrible pain in my throat that only comes when i open my mouth, yawn, speak, or swallow. It's comparable to the pain that i was in when i had gotten my tonsils out, and only occurring on my left. When I yawn i feel like i'm pulling the insides of my ear out through my throat. This pain started around three days ago and has gotten worse every day. I'm wondering if this could be a pulled muscle in my throat, if this is even possible.

Well,

On what side of the throat is your pain? There is a good chance that your wound from the tonsillectomy hasn’t grown properly, so you are not able to use your jaws and throat muscles in full. Are you able to feel if your muscle has a cramp somewhere? I think that there is a chance that this is just a muscle cramp but it shouldn’t last for this long. Have you tried to apply some ice on the place that hurts when you open your mouth? I think that you can use some topical creams that ease the muscles, like some muscle relaxants or something similar. I hope this helped you a bit.

Good luck,

Karel
