I was hit by a fast driving car head on last week. Doctors in the ER said my breast bone was fructured and I have been in excruciating pain eversince. It seems that my SUV's airbag came on and that should have protected my chest from hitting the steering wheel but as it appears, it did not happen. The steering wheel is bent and indicates that my chest crushed against it. I had the seat belt on too.
Now the question is why did n't the airbag protect my chest from hitting the steering wheel. It is puzzeling to me. Did anything mulfanctioned here or is it common to have a fructured sternum in spite of the functioning airbag and set belt? I need your opinion/experience please.
Thanks,
Mikal
