Hi, I have some questions about ultram, because a doctor prescribed it for me yesterday. How should I take it? What are the side effects? Are there some food or drug interactions? Thanks.
Hi, ultram is a narcotic pain reliever. You can use it for moderate to severe pain. You should take ultram as it was prescribed for you. The maximum allowed dose is 300 mg a day. Never take more than that! Common side effects of this drug are anxiety, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, drowsiness, tremor, itching, weakness, sweating and many more. There are less common side effects, like abdominal pain, flushing, frequent urination, inability to urinate, rash… There are some possible food and drug interactions. You mustn’t drink alcohol while using ultram. Don’t take it, if you are already using tegretol. Consult your doctor if you’re using flexeril, MAO inhibitors, antidepressants, tranquilizers, narcotic pain relievers, promethazine, quinidine or sleeping pills.
