I had a consult with Dr. Kanodia about two weeks ago- I talked my way into getting one on relatively short notice (10 days prior) because I was visiting from overseas. When I showed up at his office I overheard the receptionist telling people that were calling in that he didn't have any availabilities for appointments before Feb 2008! The doctor was running about 45 minutes late. The consultation was a bit of a let-down. Dr. Kanodia seemed rushed and spent more time discussing my professional background with me than he did discussing my nose, which I found to be a bit irritating- he was clearly more interested in the former. His book of before/after pics was pretty good- better than his website pics- but overall I got the impression that he was more conservative in his approach than other surgeons and he did say he wants to give his patients a nose they looked like they were "born with." I was also a bit annoyed that he never asked me what concerned me about my nose, and proceeded to tell me what he thought the main issues were and how to correct them (although i did agree with his diagnosis). However, my opinion of him was pretty neutral until I asked him about complications. He never discussed any possible complications (I may be more risk averse than most patients since I'm an attorney), and I explained to him that I'd appreciate it if he could go over them with me no matter how remote the possibility of their occurrence since members of my immediate family had similar surgeries and had had some complications. He acted as if I just insulted him personally and cut me off, saying, "I don't mean to brag but I'm the best there is when it comes to noses, there will not be any complications. You can ask around, there is nobody better than me." I was a bit taken aback that he could say something so incredibly arrogant with a total poker face. Then, he changed personalities again, led me to his assistant's room and asked explained to her that I was visiting from overseas and to try and accomodate me in his surgery schedule as soon as possible, since I was from abroad. The fee he quoted me was around USD 18,000 and the earliest opening for surgery they had at the time was October. Needless to say I wasn't that impressed by his people skills, but I would have been willing to overlook his personality issues, his steep fee and the long wait for surgery but I'm still hesitant to go under the knife with someone who dismissed my concerns so abrasively. He seems to be a good choice for those wanting a subtle change and none of the nose in his book looked "done." I have a consult with Dr. Mark Constantian next week and will let you know how he goes. He's also supposed to be an expert in the endonasal approach.

18000 Dollars??? Are you kidding me?? Is that the most expensive rhinoplasty in history? I think this guy is right out robbing you & he should be put back in his place. His head has gotten WAY too big!!! Have other people gotten similar quotes from him?? Does he even have the right to ask for so much? Let us know how your other consult goes. Good luck.

I just saw Dr. Kanodia for a consult and yes, it is rushed. He will examine your nose and tell you what needs to be done instead of asking your concerns, but he is bang on in his diagnosis.
His current rates are $14,000-$18,000 and surgeries are booking in Nov/Dec. I was quoted $16,000 and my nose is pretty normail, just needs a little slimming at the top.
He definitely seems to know his stuff and I'm sure he does a great job, but does anyone know of another great doctor who could perform the same type of nose job (closed) for a little less?

There are plenty of plastic surgeons w/ excellent reputations in the LA area. Among the ones that I have come across in my independent research are: Nassif, Rollins, Calvert. Additionally, Tourimi is very noted, although he is in Chicago. Davis is a favorite among ppl in the East Coast. He's located in Florida. You can find a lot of info on this board ***

I went to see Nassif and ultimately chose not to do it w/ him. He quoted me just under $9K for rhino and just under $2K for the septo (deviated septum). The advantage to seeing him is that he employs computer imaging software. Thus, you can get an idea as to what the goal is to make you look like. It's not a guarantee though. To me that was invaluable. It's hard to picture myself, or anyone, w/ a different nose. That alone was well worth the $250 consult fee. W/ that said, I ultimately decided not to do it w/ him b/c I felt upsold. He suggested a chin implant and showed what it would look like on the screen. It looked GOD AWFUL! My friend was pinching me so hard and loudly whispering "No. Don't do it." It was obvious to anyone that it looked like *****. Yet, he never acknowledged that. He was waiting for me to just say ok. That rubbed me the wrong way since I felt as if he was not rendering candid advice regardless of the financial repurcussions. Nonetheless, I'm sure he is as talented as they say he is.

I'm hoping that I'll have a positive experience w/ Kanodia. My appt is in late July. I'm hoping to have the surgery sometime in Oct/Nov, but from the looks of other posts, they probably won't have any openings before the new year. I can deal w/ the rushing and impatience as long as he renders candid advice. I'm not paying him to be my new best friend. I'm paying him to improve the appearance of my nose.

For my last two cents, I also agree that Kanodia's pictures on his website don't look all that great. However, you have to keep in mind that it's hard enough to get patients to sign a release to have their pictures shown in the office only to paying prospective patients, let alone for the whole world to see.

Hi, I have a consult appt with Dr. Kanodia for this August and his receptionist told me that the cost for my consult appt is $200US and that the highest cost for a rhinoplasty with Dr.Kanodia is $18,000 so I dont know where some of these people are getting their cost of $3000 b/c he is one of the most expensive plastic surgeons, so if you are going to him, you are basically taking out a huge loan or you had better have money...

Whoever said $3000 said that ages ago about a surgery that had happened years before with the average cost doctor, and it was just a "guess" on that person's part -- so they were waaaay off for cost booking Kanodia. You can ignore that estimate entirely. If you can find a doctor (in the USA) willing to do a nose job for $3000, RUN! Run quickly away from that facility.

:'( In my opinion Dr Kanodia needs to get over himself. He's not paying attention to his work or his care of his patients. I went in for Botox & Restaline treatment which I have had many times by other doctors but was told Dr Kanodia was the best so I decided to try him. His attitude was rude and he's a bully. But decided to go to him anyway. I had gone several times with no incidents. He takes one day out of the week to strictly work on people that want Botox & Restaline treatments. He and his assistants never wear gloves and they go from room to room without washing their hands all day long. At least I never saw him or his assistant wash their hands before working on me. Dr Kanodia asked his assitant to put her hands in my mouth and proceed to message the areas where I was bleeding on my outer skin. She did this without washing her hands or wearing GLOVES. My nose started burning immediately the assistant said that was normal. I tried to tell them that I've never had so much pain ever. The burning pain stayed with me and I called his office the next day complaining about pain and that it looked worse. I was told it was just bruised. But I knew there was something very wrong. Needless to say on the third day after treatment I woke with horrible pain, my nose was triple it's size, blue and had huge filled pustiles from the tip of my nose to my third eye (between eyebrows). We are talking hundreds. I called the office and they prescribed an antibiotic before seeing me but then Dr Kanodia called and had me come right in. I went in and Dr Kanodia changed my antibiotic & said I have a very bad infection but wouldn't take A CULTURE to find out what kind. In my opinion and my other doctors opinions I had MRSA (a very serious Staph infection). I was so naive that I didn't know that taking the antibiotics would mask infection from other cultures taken by my other doctors. The infections just kept coming back and I was trying to get Dr Kanodia to see me but his assistants would keep putting me off. The last time I saw Dr Kanodia he told me he wasn't going to treat me anymore and to keep going to my regular doctors. The only thing he offered me was my money back. My regular Dermatologists really are appalled at Dr Kanodia they feel I have MRSA, and felt he should have taken a CULTURE right away and follow through with my care. Instead of letting other doctors try to clean up his mess. He choose to get me out of his life immediately before all this got out to his famous stars and his reputation might get ruined. I know all Doctors are only human and can make mistakes but to brush me off and not to follow through with treatment is unexceptable. I have been on serious medication since Sept 2006 and will suffer with this problem for the rest of my life. I've lost a tremendous amount of weight and as soon as one medication is finished I break out with these pustules and start all over again on another regime of strong antibiotics. I was a very healthy person, never even had a cold sore, never had any adverse reactions to anything, have always gone in for my regular check ups and in my opinion the only place I could have gotten this horrific infection was from DR Kanodia's office. I have documented everything dates, photo's & film, and everytime I break out again I take more photo's. In my opinion Dr Kanodia has gotten so famous that he has forgotten that he is there to take care for his patients. If this happened to one of his famous stars he would have scrambled to rectify the situation. I really hope everyone will think twice when a doctor won't answer your questions of concern before treatments and tells you he's the best there is and doesn't take the time to let you know what the complications might be. I have spent a lot of money for my treatments and will have keep spending money not to mention my distress looking at the scaring that is taking place on my nose. Oh and by the way I requested my records and he didn't document any of this. This is the short version of what happened to me in DR RAJ KANODIA'S OFFICE.

Thank you for sharing this with us. It's important to realize that some doctors will acquire a certain reputation & then just coast off of it without necessarily maintaining high quality work. Then if things go really wrong they "punt" you to someone else ASAP so you're not their problem & their image isn't tarnished. That is a classic move of someone who has lost sight of their work & is caught up in all the hoopla & money of fame; and it also makes for poor medical care which ultimately is the most important service of any doctor.
I would say even beyond this exprience judging from celebrity results I would give mixed reviews. A.Simpson's nose was excellent, C. Diaz was good & J.Aniston looks "natural" but overall mediocre.
I'm still willing to accept that overall he has good skills but from reading all the posts I do get the sense he is less focused, caring & astute with regards to the skills that made him famous in the first place. Add a generally outrageous fee to this & I am not sure it is worth the experience. I have an upcoming consult %-) appt very soon but now have serious reservations about keeping it.
