Hey there! Well, you're better than me! I'm 33, and still haven't addressed this.

I was just thinking about how much shame and anxiety I have around my body/genitals in particular. I think that really keeps a lot of us from seeking care or feeling deserving of care, and I'm glad all of us are at least seeking answers.

I am thinking my rectal bleeding during menstruation is probably caused by hemorrhoids, which I have. I got a new job a couple months ago that is very sedentary, and I'm also taking a medication that is constipating as a side effect. I think these two factors have made the bleeding worse lately, and I need to be more proactive about eating fiber and including some some sort of movement/exercise in my life.

Do you have a doctor or gynecologist that you like or trust that you can speak to about this? Don't be afraid to be honest about your body and your health. Issues like this are more common than we think and we all deserve care of her :) best wishes to you!

This makes sense. I've had this same problem for a little over a year as well. I've had colonoscopy, ablation of uterus & a mass removed from my uterus & here I am still bleeding from the rectum as well as bleeding from the vagina:( My biggest problem is my iron gets so low to a 8 :( Still no answers for me & no relief:(

I'm 30 years old and this is my first experience with rectal bleeding during my period. I've had henmerhoids before and this feels different. I've been on my cycle for 2 days and most blood and such comes out of my anus. My protective pad looks barely used and I've had it on for 4 hours. With this anal bleeding came bouts of extreme nausea and vomiting (all simultaneously). I'm frightened and have yet to get a good answer.

Hello everyone

Just to say I ignored the monthly bleed from my rectum for years as knew it was period related and was too shy to let anyone look. 14 years on my bowl now does not properly, so I wish I had this sorted before. What you need to do is be examined while you are bleeding so the Doctor can see whats going on.

I may have the same problem, I'm 31 years old, but the one difference is that I'm only bleeding from my rectum when i should have my period. I haven’t had a proper period in awhile because of a hormonal imbalance.
My gynecologist didn't find anything, I had a sigmoidoscopy done, that didn't show anything besides a few small hemorrhoids. I went to a hormonal specialist and she's help to reset the imbalance.
But is there something else I should do? Is this something to worry about?

I had rectal bleeding during my period as well. My Gynecologic oncology surgeon informed me that an abnormal nodule attached itself to my intestine. The nodule was benign, but I had to have that portion of my intestine removed.

What kind of test showed that nodule??was it mandatory to have part of intestine removed?did it cure the problem?

Ultimately an abdominal mri was performed to view the nodule. All of my reproductive organs were removed as well as other non essential tissue that any subsequent nodule could attach to. Now, I don't have any rectal bleeding nor periods. I don't understand why I'm anemic considering the latter. ..
