I hope everyone has found relief since posting! I have the same problem! It only started this winter. It's very hard to describe to people that don't have it. I always say that they feel like they had been burned and then get wet like there is something coming out of them. It seems like everything I try makes it worse, but it's impossible to not keep something on your lips because of how awful they feel! I have eczema on my hands, so it has me thinking that it could be the same thing on my lips. I used the steroid that I was prescribed for my hands on my lips and it worked, but the condition returns. With eczema, you get those tiny bumps that you can't see and then the small amount of pus and itchiness. I hope this helps!

Hopefully this helps someone.... I had my first bout of this 2 and a half years ago. Dry, scaly, itchy lips that ended up red and irritated and burned. I went like this for months and even went to the dr. several times and received no help. I finally did my own research and found someone who said it could be fungal. I thought, why not, won't hurt. Went to the store and bought generic fungal cream, just like you would use for ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, etc. After MONTHS of dealing with this I got relief within 2 days of applying the cream. After two weeks of applying it twice daily (as the instructions said to do) it stayed away. It has come back twice, the first time the fungal cream did the trick immediately as before, and this last time I went to the dr. and explained what was happening, how fungal cream works, and asked if she could tell me why it kept recurring. Again, not many answers, I'm not sure she was convinced it was even fungal, but she ended up prescribing me an anti fungal oral pill...... And guess what? My lips healed up..... I am now 100% sure mine is fungal, and I would bet a lot of people have the same issue and don't know it. Now I just need to find out why it comes back periodically........

I've had this on and off for 2 1/2 years now and also been given Fucidin...however it only seems to work for a while for me and then comes back and sometimes, after use of a week or so, it ends up doing nothing anymore..So frustrated with this now :-( Doctors don't seem to care

*BEST - I hope that EVERY person who has these types of lip problems, will read this information. It will take care of your problem in short order. Most health professionals, especially Conventional doctors, and holistic doctors, Will not get this one, and it is the reason, most of the time that this "lip problem" keeps coming back, regardless what you do. First, let's identify the usual symptoms, all of which are present within 48 hours: - 1. Lips swell largely, to 2-3 times normal. 2. Lips tingle/burn. 3. Overly Dry and chapped Lips, with scaling skin on, below or above the lips. 4. Weeping - yellow and/or clear liquid coming from the lips upper or lower (either or both). 5. Sometimes inside mouth raw feeling on gums around teeth. 6. Sometimes throat or sinus irritation, like getting a cold. What is usually diagnosed as some type of Cheilitis, Impetigo, Eczema, Rash, or even allergic reactions to other things, like food, cosmetics etc., is NOT. Not in all cases, but in over 90% of these cases, it is none of these happening - and the reason for re-uccurances days, weeks, months or years later. What is at the Root of your problem, is a STREP INFECTION (bacterial), that ORIGINATES most of the time, in the stomach. Sometimes, it's in other areas, like the lungs, throat etc. Yes, the stomach, and can be there for years, without detection. It surfaces by moving up through the upper extremities, to soft tissues like the lips, mouth, throat, nose, sinuses. Strep is highly contagious, and in fact, most people have it floating around in them, and don't know it - until something triggers it, usually a little emotional stress, which you also may not even be aware of. CURE: We've found that our VERY BEST cure, is NOT antibiotics of ANY KIND - or lip creams, hydrocortisone, fungal creams etc. This actually increases the yeast factor immediately, and does not get rid of the Strep, and actually prolongs the bacteria until later. With drug antibiotics, symptoms may appear to recede for awhile, but will reappear later again - and then you also have the yeast problem to deal with, which can actually aggravate the problem and other problems even more. COLLOIDAL SILVER, is the only thing we'd recommend, to get rid of the problem, for Long Term. Buy a bottle of Colloidal Silver at your health food store, any brand will do. TAKE 10 DROPS PER HOUR, until the bottle is gone. You'll see the symptoms begin subsiding within a few hours. Colloidal silver stays in the bloodstream and kills all the Strep bacteria within your entire body, for this is NOT limited to your lips or skin irritations. It's coming from within your body. You can keep your lips moist with some type of lip balm, whatever works best for you, without burning as much, until the lips begin returning to normal, because the Colloidal Silver is killing the bacteria right away. Until you kill the bacteria inside, the symptoms on the outside will not subside, or appear to subside, until later. Google Colloidal Silver and educate yourself. Even if you are suffering from any other type of bacterial infection, this will help your entire body. The yellow or clear discharge from your lips, or peeling, is evidence of bacterial infection, and the culprit is in over 90% of the cases, is a form of Strep. Problem solved, usually within 48 hours. Colloidal Silver also helps anyone who has problems due to a Virus of some kind, like simple Herpes Simplex, etc. Drink at least 1 gallon of water every day religiously......even after you're healed. Additionally, we'd also recommend a good B-Complex vitamin daily for awhile, even some Zinc, especially for men, so that your immune system can process the stress more easily, without the immune system manifesting an external problem (most people are way deficient on B's - the stress busters). Good health to you.

This is what my Dermatologist stated was my problem, it had reoccurred multiple times within the year and each time was horrible. I have not had a break out since being treated with a topical (can't remember the name off hand) but seeing that it could possibly be lying within me what it be good advice to take the Colloidal Silver as a precautionary measure?

I too have similar symptoms. I remember a few years back in Hawaii I noticed the small patch of tiny bumps on my lip, very hard to see. I wasn’t to say they were brown though and not red. I think I used oil of oregano at the type (topically) to help heal them. Haven't really had any issues until recently. My current gf ALWAYS puts on chapstick / carmex. She claims her lips are always dry and has been for years so I’m not sure what’s going on with her. I also noticed I had thrush once after sex (red blotch on penis) a while back with her. I usually go down on her a lot but haven't since these issues started. Anyway, after about 6 months of dating I started experiencing the dry, chapped, tingling, small tiny bumps (red), irritated symptoms and have been dealing with it for about a week now. Thinking it was fungal from oral sex, I began using antifungal cream but lips were not improving much, still looking irritated. After reading this forum and others I decided to try the following and after one day my lips are already looking better! (mainly from Aquaphor and trying Colidaol Silver but obviously harder to prove that's helping).

- Lysine (Amino acid deals specifically with mouth health / healing). I have had success with this in the past but didn't seem to help much with current issues, still taking because its really good at least for inside mouth.

- Aquaphor - Has been the best at healing lips compared to chapsticks I was using.

- Bacitracin - Just started putting on before bed, then aquaphor during the day.

- Oil of Oregano - Mixing about 10 drops with water taking internally, also a few drops with water rinsing mouth before brushing.

- Coconut oil - should use first thing when you wake up, swishing in mouth for about 1 min and spitting out to "pull" out toxins. Haven't started this one yet, plan on starting tomorrow morning.

- Sovereign Silver (Colloidal Silver) - started taking about 10 drops a few times throughout the day. Research online is mixed but if nothing else I will put my faith in it and hopefully the placebo effect will work.

I will post a follow-up to this for status, improvements, etc. I have yet to experience any cold sores in my life or blisters so my best guess is this is fungal / viral. I'm thinking its related to oral sex and or making out which further supports my theory. My gf was having similar issues but it seemed to clear up faster. My last STD test was clean but that was about three or four partners ago so I plan on going again and some point just for peace of mind but have no other symptoms besides this weird mouth sh*t.

More to come!

I get this when I'm under a lot of stress because I gravitate towards carbs. It's associated with candida. If you go on a yeast free diet, decrease sugar consumption and continue to exercise it will help resolve these symptoms.

I have been the recipient of the "Lovely Lip Fungi" now 4 times.
I use TeaTree Oil to get rid of it.
its kind of smelly and tastes like turpentine, so try to keep it out of your mouth. It usually gets rid of it within 4 days. I also apply lip balm or Vaseline over the Tea Tree. Good Luck with The YucK
