I really need some help with a diagnosis for my poor husband!! He gets these sudden attacks of severe abdominal pain and vomiting, that just seem to come out of nowhere. Sometimes with hot/cold sweats as well and twice he had black/sticky stools, once there was blood in the vomit. He also seems to be really confused/out of it sometimes when its happening but that may be the painkillers they keep giving him. It has been recurring about 5 or 6 times for about 5 months now and the doctors just can’t figure out anything and keep sending us away and tell us to come back to hospital next time it happens again!
We go to the emergency room and they just give him morphine for the pain (he seems to need at least 10mg to relieve it at all) and maxalon, they also tried buscopan and heaps of other c**p but nothing works. We have done CT scans, xrays, etc they keep checking for appendicitis, gallstones, and never find anything. He always has a high white blood cell count too (16 last time, can’t remember the other times). He was admitted for 4 days once and they thought maybe he had ulcers so they did an endoscopy which found nothing (and also made him violently ill again due to the anaesthetic). He is still taking nexium for the ulcers but has been taking it for 5 months now and had 4 more attacks since then.
These attacks/symptoms sometimes disappear as suddenly as they come on – most recently was last night, he got sick about 4:30/5pm quite suddenly, I took him back to the hospital at 6pm and by 10:30pm, he just suddenly got better – they gave him so many pain killers during the first 2 hours he was there and nothing worked, they would not give him anymore as they said he would have to go on a respirator if they did! 2.5 hrs later the symptoms just disappeared! This has happened several times for varying lengths of time, sometimes he feels better only for a day or two, sometimes 2 or 3 months he is fine and then its back and we go through all the same tests all over again… has anyone had anything similar??? We are so desperate to find out what is wrong
I have these "atacks" too. Starting in 2007 I have had my gallbladder removed(they said gallstones & chronic infection), few months later attacks started again. Been too ER too many times too count, admitted to hospital 3 times. I have run the gauntlet of tests, labwork, procedures, endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, multiple colonoscopies, ct scans, xrays, MRCPT scans, ultrasounds and countless other things. Too make a very long story short I am just gonna list some things to look into: Crohns disease & auto-immune disorders, colitus, h.pylori, liver or pancreatic issuses, and S.O.D.- Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction. It took me years to hear of the SOD- seems there are different types & can be very hard to diagnose. I hope any of this info can help at all.

sadly i have some thing similar, it makes me not want to eat i have went for over two days and pain still there and sever cramps and bowel movements 6+ times a day some of them uncontrolable, no medication helped done almost every test except for a capsule endoscipy, GI doc said to go to a urologist and clean there. Pain relievers dont help either. the spasms or what ever they are started off like indigestion then kept getting worse up to 4 months to where i cant work. Im on probiotics, and antidepressents (idk y). stopped drinking energy drinks and soda and that didnt help, tried changing my diet nothing there. some times the pain lasts for hours or 3 days. Idk what to do

Something similar has happened to me over the past year. The first time it happened we took off to the emergency room and they game me pain relievers and release me after about 3 hours of vomiting. My stomach cramping comes on very severe about every 5 or 10 minutes and gets more severe up to the time I vomit; the more I vomit the better my stomach feels. When I first start vomiting it is the food and about the last half of the night it starts turning dark brown. This has happened several times over the past year. Two days ago it happened again and this time I even got the chills and vomited from about 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM lying in the bathroom floor all night next to commode. At first I thought my wife was feeding me bad food and that did not go over to good...shwww. Our next guess was we had got a Yorkie that plays rough and bits a little too hard. My wife was reading on Pint rest about GMO foods and how bad they are for you, so I typed in Google the Genetically Modified Corn stomach cramps and started reading. One article said "On August 8, 2003, about 100 residents from Sitio Kalyong were documented to have been suffering from headache, dizziness, extreme stomach pain, vomiting and allergies.” The Filipinos lived adjacent to a GM cornfield and developed symptoms only while pollen was airborne. Similar symptoms appeared in different locations during the following two years, also during pollination. I am not sure if this is the cause of my stomach cramps and vomiting, but I would sure like to hear from anyone else and maybe we can solve this. Every time it seems like I am going to die and by morning I am dehydrated and all my muscles are cramping until I get my electrolytes, potassium and salt back up. Let’s find the answer! I can’t take this anymore!

Hi, this sounds like what my Son has been experiencing for years. He is 12 and when he had his first attack, he passed out from the intense pain. He has had many, many tests and goes to one of the best doctors in the country. For him, all of his doctor's feel he has cyclic vomiting also called abdominal migraines. His attacks come out of no where and pretty much stop the same way. This can go on for hours to a few days. The pain is severe, he starts to sweat profusely and also has vomiting. Sometimes he will vomit and it also affects his bowels - he basically explodes from both ends. After the attacks, he is completely wiped out. The doctors would never give him pain medication, as they didn't want to mask the problem. It is awful to watch him suffer, but what we find is that after the vomiting the pain seems to go. He takes Amitriptyline twice a day and this seems to help. My Son also suffers from other GI issues, but your Husbands symptoms sound so much like my Sons. I hope you find some help soon!
