recurring severe abdominal pain, vomiting and doctors have no diagnosis, any ideas?

I've had similiar issues and the Drs keep trying to figure it out and can't. i will go from perfectly fine to all the sudden feeling very ill extremely fast. i start violently throwing up,hot flashes that cause severe sweating'bodt temp goes back and forth and I lterally feel like i'm dying. I can't move im in so much pain between the breaks of throwing up. I usually just crawl up on the bathroom floor bc I know it about 3min its gonna start again. The 1st time it happened was last year. I was hospitalized for 9 day"s. a month later i was hospitalized again but they said it was just the flu amd sent me home after giving me a shot. a week later it happened again. just last September the violent attack came on at i knew what is was. Went back to hospital for 5 day's. I've had ct scans, ultrasounds...you name it. The Drs found gall stones but would not remove them bc of how sick I was at the tume and sent me home w anti-nausea meds and some pain relivers that didnt help the pain at all. all the sudden they changed there mind and said it was colitis...more or less just to get me out of there. None of my symptoms besides abdominal pain has any relation to colotis. If you figure it out, please let me know...I'm in the same boat and am so scared waiting for the next time it hits bc it will

My daughter had exactly the symptoms you describe and for about one year she had repeated attacks about every 4 to 6 weeks. Repeated visits by different Doctors failed to produce a diagnosis. Finally, on one occasion she was so bad and because the symptoms persisted for longer than the usual 8 hours she had to be admitted to hospital. In the hospital they suspected appendicitis which is what I thought right at the beginning but had been ruled out by all the previouis Doctors. The hospital staff decided to operate and take a look. They found that her appendix was indeed inflamed and removed it. She has not had any attacks since then - about two years ago. When asked why the problem had not been diagnosed earlier we were told that her appendix was a bit higher up than usual and that this had misled those who examined her. It is possible that other problems could cause a similar pattern of symptoms but my money would be on appendicitis. Best wishes, David Robinson

This is unbelievable to me because I have had the exact same prob for over a year now and have been trying to desperately find a answer with no luck maybe with a little luck I'll find out!!

Literally going through the same problem. Except I'm a teenager. Been to the ER each time for morphine, only thing that will help because the pain is so intense. I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, and biopsy...absolutely nothing. I'm perfectly healthy and yet this keeps happening. I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and ruled out any other serious condition. My doctors are stumped. Interested to see if anything helps your husband.

It could be Addisons disease.  A coworker had this.  They got sick about 3 months ago and then again here recently.  Constantly throwing up out of the blue, diahreha, weakness, etc.  the first time it seemed o go away after a few days.  The last time it didnt.  They drew some bloodwork.  basically his body wasnt absorbing the salt he was intaking.  They also say people tht notice their skin is a little darker or becomes darker this could be the case.  

Symptoms of an Addisonian or "adrenal" crisis include

I am so sorry to hear of the problems you are having. Pain and nausea are so debilitating. My daughter had similar problems to the ones your husband has, and she had now been diagnosed with gastroparesis. This syndrome varies from person to person, but she is managed with medication. Although she has on going problems, having a diagnosis has helped. There is a support group and some very good web sites about This condition, and other related illnesses.

Hello! My boyfriend has the exact same situation going on, it started in February and now it's July.... We go to the ER and they do some tests and then move on to saying he has cyclic vomiting syndrome but that doesn't make sense because of the high white blood cell count... They give him alot of pain killers because nothing helps at first and it's so severe and were out of options... We have an appointment with a GI doctor on Monday but I'm desperate and when I found your blog I was shocked cause they sound almost identical.. Please let me know if you have had any luck since you posted this please

Glad I found this forum.  I'm 30 M and have had 6 episodes in the last 3 years.  They all are the same although dehydration levels have fluctuated, the last 3 times I went to the ER.

It starts around 5am, diarrhea and vomiting. 8am-3pm it's severe vomiting, throwing up bile or whatever liquids I have about every 8-10mins.  Cold sweats, feel woozy.  Extreme pain in my upper abdomen that forces to stay hunched over.  I can usually move through pain but I can't stand up with this pain, my body just won't allow me to.  I lay in a fetal position.  The vomiting slows around 5pm to 3-4 vomits a hr.  By 8pm my body comes around and I'm fine again, just like that.  My body takes a few days to recover and stomach is sensitive for a week.

Have had countless tests done while in the ER (Ultrasound, CT Scan) and out of ER (Endoscopy, Nuclear sandwhich tests) all with no clear diagnosis.

Saturday was my first episode since May 2012 where I had 2 in 4 weeks.  I'm going to pursue some more tests and look deeper into Crohns disease.  I'll keep the forum updated.

   These attacks are identical to mine.  They come on out of nowhere and escalate into severe pain within 5 min to half hour,  i can tell when they are coming as the pain is very distinct. I become extremely sweaty then  i vomit  the  pain subsides, but it takes everything out of me and i become exhausted an lathargic.   Each time this has happened, over the past 2 years  15 -20 times, i either vomit a dark brown substance that tastes like poison,  sometimes diarrhea at the SAME time uncontrollably.   I just went to the hospital -finally got insurance and was admitted for 4 days only to leave with no diagnosis.   I have had H Pylori and it could be that, but that was 25 years ago. I had an xray, 2 CT scans, ultrasounds and Endoscopy.   NOTHING found.    I was talked right out of a colonoscopy because they started focusing on my back.   They had me convinced it was my back,   So ridiculous.   After finding nothing with my back i was discharged   ---No colonoscopy!!!  i am livid with myself and the docs.   Not sure, but that test may have found it.  Hope to end this nightmare soon with a diagnosis!

 

Hi there I have had sever abdominal pain for the last 13 years. I have been admitted to hospital too many times to count for a year it was every month. I have had X-rays, ultrasounds, blood and urine tests, endoscopy, colonoscopy, laparoscopy, poked and prodded but they still find nothing. I go into hospital and they dose me up with morphine, buscapan, endone and maxalon. The drugs do take most or the pain away but make me very drugged out which I hate. They can never seem to tell me which way to go next but make me feel like I am a hypochondriac or drug addict which I am not. I am just wanting to fid out what is the cause if this pain and how I can treat it. The doctors always tell me all that they can diagnose it has is "IBS" but then i shouldn't have severe pain. It feels like I am going through labour. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

DIVERTICULITIS ? I had same symptoms. Usually in old people. Don't eat seeds or nuts.

I am a physician-your husband may have familial mediterranean fever. this is helped by the drug colchicine. he needs to go for genetic testing for this. check the computer for a genetic testing center near you. also another possibility is acute intermittent porphyria. special blood and urine tests are available to help diagnose this. take this post to a board certified internist who can help you.

After 6 years a great neurologist in melb aust Dr Hilary Hunt from the Epworth diagnosed severe anxiety and PTSD. Left her father when she was 5 but she internalized and anxiety out of control by 12. Off all meds and seeing therapist. Hope this his someone else look outside the box
