Hi, my daughter just turned 1yr and she has had very mild tear duct problems. I massaged her eyes and kept them clean, and it seems to be better than at birth. She tears often, not just when she is crying. The redness under her eyes is where you usually would have bags or dark circles. These are a blush color. We have not been able to go outside as often as before due to weather. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Thanks in advance.

More and more children are born with an underdeveloped tear-duct system. My sister boy had a similar problem and the doctor told her that this problem is causing tear-duct blockage, excess tearing and sometimes infection of the eye. He is one year old as well so I think that this is common for infants.

The doctor told to my sister that this is something that is going to resolve by itself by the time he is 2 years old. When she was trying to find out some more information about this she has discovered that this condition doesn’t require any type of treatment and even when it does it is not likely that the surgery of any kind is going to be necessary.

But just to be safe check with your doctor and let us know about the results of the examination. Wish you all the best with your little girl.
