I battled constant yeast infections for two years. Once I figured out it was Splenda and stopped using it, I haven't had a problem since. I don't have the problem when using Equal (aspartame).

Confirmed case of yeast infection from Splenda. Rash started immediately after switching to diet drinks with Splenda and rash faded after I stopped drinking Splenda. Prior to stopping the Splenda, I had a lab result (skin graft) confirm the rash was a yeast infection under my arm. Everyone, please avoid Splenda and save unnecessary medical costs. I also understand Splenda is made with Chlorine atoms, which was a surprise to me. Please do your research.

I am pretty late to the discussion, but I just started using Splenda in my coffee and yogurt again instead is Stevia and *boom* a yeast infection after using it for a week and a half. Using it again is the only difference in my diet and daily routine, so it looks like I won't be using it any more.

I used Splenda (Sucralose) for several years until recently. Everything was fine at first. I suddenly began to get bloating and stomach cramps with diarrhea. I never attributed the symptoms to my use of Splenda until a few nights ago when I got such a migraine that it made it nearly impossible to fall asleep.

I also couldn't figure out why I kept getting urinary tract infections although I drink 4 to 6 glasses of water per day. As soon as I removed Splenda from my diet, all these symptons disappeared.

I used to drink Coke Zero and diet carbonated beverages as well as eat 'sugar-free' foods and snacks containing Splenda. No longer! I now avoid snacks and 'health' foods that contain Splenda.

In addition to water I also drink Ocean Spray Sparkiling Cran-Raspberry Juice which has no added sugar or artificial sweetners. It cleared my UTI in no time flat and it does not give me head aches, stomach cramps or diarrhea. The symptons of Splenda ARE NOT all in your head. Sucralose is dangerous!

I have battled candida albicans for a number of years - unknowningly. My natural practitioner was the one who "enlightened" me with her suspicions. After doing much research on the internet - the one common thread was coconut oil - virgin, organic, unrefined. I swear by it! I lost 45 pounds, had diarrhea for almost 2 years, found pictures of my legs on the internet. My med doc didn't seem to think there was a problem. I started taking the coconut oil and followed an extremely restricted diet (using tortillas instead of bread was a life saver). Re the coconut - research it on the internet for the directions on how to take it - gradually starting with one tsp. the first day and upwards from there. I have been free of yeast for almost a year now but still take the coconut oil. I have found once I got everything under control I wasn't always hungry like before, and have no sugar cravings (I stay totally away from sugar) and eat Bulgarian yogurt after every meal. Good luck! I hope I have helped!

I forgot to add - it is manditory to eat/use ONLY ORGANIC. Many chemicals in the products we use/eat feed yeast. This includes lotions, soaps, etc. My toothpaste is even organic. The 45 pounds I lost was not intentional - it was a result of the diarrhea - since getting back on a better "track" I have thankfully gained the weight back. I hadn't realized how depressed I had become over the years. Now that I am back in control of my body I have all kinds of energy that has been absent for a long time. I look forward to each day, am able to maintain a positive attitude. This is a world wide problem with estimates stating 7 out of 10 humans world wide are dealing with candida albicans. I've read reports from all over the world, even as far away as Australia.

I want to say this from my experience, but i am searching through the internet on the connection because i believe it was my problem this whole time!

-i have never taken birth control
-i have been vegan for 5 years
-i eat pretty healthy in general
-i exercise regularly
-i avoid antibiotics as much as possible (only time i really use them is for yeast infection, uti's, or pain meds for my time of the month.)
-i am 32 for reference

i started using splenda years ago for my coffee. I never thought much of it. progressively over the years i started having yeast infections, and last year i started getting UTI's as well. i never felt completely normal down there in recent years, even if i didn't have a yeast infection. It was like i was always on the verge of getting one. I do take probiotics regularly but that didn't always help. i also had natural suppositories i would use sometimes in conjugation.

I have gone to the doctor and they just tell me that some women get it more than others and proceed to give me antibiotics (which also flares the gut bacteria anyway (uti) or one that kills gut bacteria (yeast infections) and then i would take a bunch of probiotics)

i do eat breads and things that can contribute to yeast problems but i had gone periods where i would try to cut out such foods and i still had issues nonetheless. i also did a test showing what foods i have insensitivities to, which helped but didn't solve that problem. (brewers yeast and bakers yeast did come up with a mild sensitivity to tho, which i now try to avoid yeast extract and such in any foods.)

recently it was brought to my attention by a fellow health nut that i should get stevia instead of splenda. of course i went in search of which is better and came to the conclusion that i just was going to use natural brown sugar or maple syrup in my coffee instead. i must say that considering it has been maybe a month or two, i think splenda was the culprit.

I only want to comment here to help others relieve of the discomfort, stress, and pain. It also affected my relationship. I now feel normal down there even after sex which is amazing because so many years it has just been a ticking time bomb for the next one. I know it hasn't been long but i feel a huge difference. I have not changed my diet or any of my vitamins.

IF YOU HAVE SUSPENSIONS, PLEASE TRY IT! #splendasideaffects should be much more monitored and researched but we all know the FDA is not worried...

trust your instincts.
