I am almost done my first pack of Microgestin 1.5/30 birth control pills, and while the side effects have not been intolerable, they have been rough. Seems like the inverse of what is supposed to be happening from the estrogen, like all the good stuff - no more cysts, pimples, decreased menstrual head aches, etc. - is now happening to me!
Background: I'm a novice with the pill. I have avoided oral contraception for years for personal reasons. Had a terrible stint with Nexplanon about 7 weeks ago, had it removed 3 weeks ago and began the Microgestin 1.5/30. So I don't have a ton of experience with birth control, especially the pill. I have had NO head aches the duration of the month, but I believe I may get my period tonight or tomorrow, and I have a horrible migraine - like a pre-menstrual migraine. I have developed 5 new cysts on my face, unlike the usual 1 or 2 I get only every couple of months before my period. The general condiiton of my skin has nose dived. I read that estrogen, in any dose, is good for preventing these troublesome symptoms. So what the heck is going on? Will this go away, or should I consider switching brands?
Thanks for any advice, or answers. I am very much at a loss, since I know there is an adjustment phase, but it seems discouraging that everything that this medicine is supposed to prevent is happening right now! :(
