Hello,

My girlfriend takes the combination birth control pill. STD's are not a problem (we're each others firsts and only). She takes it every day at the same time (give or take a few hours max).

I know that is it is very safe when taken properly, so it should technically always be safe to have unprotected sex, but is during the end of the cycle (about 3 days before taking placebo pills) the safest time as ovulation (which shouldn't occur at all on the pill) would most likely to have occurred before this time?

Also, once she has her period by taking the placebo pills, that definitely means she is not pregnant, correct?

Thanks in advance!
Not to worry. If gf takes her pills properly, there is a 1% chance for conception. Remember the only safe birth control is abstinence. BC is 99% effective. When she starts her placebo's, a period should follow within 2 days after the first "fake" pill. This is telling you that she is not pregnant and that the cycle ran smooth.
She should really practice taking the pill at the same time every day, to avoid break thru bleeding, which is quite annoying.
