Hi all, im going through i rough time atm, with this rather embarrasing problem: I had an inflamed epididymus which i was dealing with for over 4 years on and off (i caused it myself), and now ive been ok for 3 months as i was taking ibuprofen and not walking etc... but now i have this new problem; ive developed a phobia about touching my balls, and i cant really clean them properly and they keep producing dead skin which turns into scales. the doctor said to try olive oil to break up the dead skin- which half worked, i managed to pull the rest off with tweasers, but then 2 weeks later theres loads more allready and my scrotum is slightly inflamed again. the doc says i need to try and gently scrub it off. i don't understand- this never used to happen, i never perticularly cleaned my balls, maybe only once a month at a guess and they have allways been fine on the outside. I cant find anything on google about this, it seems a bit weird but its destroying my life. any ideas how i can remove the dead skin stuff? ive spent 7 months dealing with this and the old thing, not going out, not doing much, i need to move on but am scared to be rough and bring back the inflamed epididymus again.

my balls were tender for a while after getting a knee to the groin.. i had a sort of phobia for a bit about touching them because they were very tender and the slightest touch hurt. washing was a problem till it got real gross and started smelling bad so i tried a loufa and it really did seem to help.. i don't recall it hurting at allas long as i pulled the skin tight on one side to clean the other side so as not to put direct pressure on testes.. gl

Well, I can certainly understand why you would be so "gun shy" or concerned about inflaming your condition again.

I'm not sure I understand how "I caused it myself", but that's not important right now. You've seen a doctor about this and have been under their care.

In the meantime, it seems that you have focused on the skin care of your scrotum so much that you're plucking dead flakes of skin with tweasers!
I'm not aware that ANYTHING special has to be done to care for the scrotum skin, as it is pretty much a self cleaning area when you stand in the shower.

Is there something that you haven't shared with us? Is there a weight problem or something that would aggrivate the situation?

I would NOT recommend scrubbing any more, and certainly not pealing off dead skin. I would let it come off by itself, otherwise you are opening up the skin to infection.

Certainly, your continued care with a doctor would override any suggestion that I could give you. If he wants you to use olive oil to soothe the skin and care for it, I would follow his directions.
But this is a new one to me.

Good luck. Let us know what works out for you.
