My sister had an ultrasound last week and she received results that indicate that she has an adnexal septated complex cyst versus simple cysts on her left ovary. She already had cyst surgery, so her doc scheduled new the ultrasound in a couple of weeks. Why does that cyst recur with her and what does complex adnexal septated exactly mean?
I have done ultrasound recently too and I have septated cycts. That means that they are divided into segments. The significance of this is partly in how thick the walls are between the parts, because a thicker wall is thought to be a higher risk of being malignant. And Adnexal just means it's in the area near the uterus, which includes the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
