Your pain in your right shoulder is muscle tension....relax your shoulders!!.....the popping noises are taut muscles (could be trapezius, rhomboid or serratus posterior superior) with trigger points ....once the pain starts burning it's a sign of muscle exhaustion....use your arms and hands and fingers for daily tasks!!
do not disregard any muscle pain that arises without movement!!!

FYI: You might have a dislocated rib. I had the same symptoms: burning pain in shoulder, neck and back pain on the right side of my body and pain shooting down my arm. I was diagnosed with dislocated ribs. I saw a sports medicine doctor who readjusted my ribs and cracked my upper and lower back. I did not have the typical symptoms of dislocated ribs.

The upper part of my rib was rubbing up against right collarbone  causing horrible pain in my shoulder and down my right arm. I was sent to a specialist and they diagnosed me immediately.   ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

That's just rude for those who don't know the solution, why even post a comment if you're not going to help!

I am 48 years old and I too experience this hot or sunburn pain that you speak about, it is really annoying. I think it might be anxiety or something else, or my pills are causing this.

I know how you feel it drives me crazy. You seem to of done practically everything, but to no avail. My doctor thought it was my disc as well have had xray, and was told it was muscular, posture, and slight wear and tare in back. I am waiting to see a doctor at the neurosurgery. Can keep in touch to let you know how I get on.

2 years ago on valentines night, my mom & I flipped our van. We flipped end over end & then landed on the drivers side. I was in the passengers side so when we landed, the seat belt fractured my right collarbone. I managed to lift myself up & out of the window & flagged down a car. We were taken to the hospital where the drs missed my fractured collarbone. 2 days later I went to the dr & found out. Since then I have had a burning pain right below my right shoulder blade, it will start out as warmth & progress into a horrible burning. It usually lasts for about 5 minutes so I just bit my tongue & wait it out. I've tried stretching out my arm but it doesn't help. When it happens, I have asked my mom to put her hand on my back & see if it feels hot to her, she can never feel it. I've also had bad pain in the right side of my chest but I've been xrayed & the drs said that my chest, ribs, collarbone, etc, look fine. But the pain that hurts the most is in my right arm, the burning in the shoulder blade goes away after a few minutes. My right arm hurts so badly, it will start as slight pain in the right side of my neck & my collarbone & then progress into & down my arm all the way to my fingers. It's like a paralyzing pain, where I have to really work to get my arm to move. & it doesn't hurt for hours before it gets hard to move my arm, as soon as the pain starts, my arm gets weak. Today I felt it coming on so I jumped in the shower & turned it on hot, trying to stop it before it happened. It didn't work, so when I was out, I put on some icy hot gel & just waited it out. Now, almost 12 hours later, my arm is still really weak & sore. Like when you've worked out really hard, only I haven't done anything today as I was off work today. I might add that I'm to young for this kind of pain to be just a part of life, I'm only 20 years old & this pain has been here off & on for years. Sometimes my arm would hurt even before the accident, but now it hurts more often & it's worse.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. The drs don't seem to care. My job is a job where heavy lifting is a must. Oh, & the pain started way before I had a heavy lifting job so that can't be the problem.

I had this problem a about 35 years ago.  The old fashion Dr. told me it was a nerve ending that was pulled away from the muscle.
The loose contact with whatever caused the sever pain.  I can't remember what prescription he gave me too heal the nerve but it worked.
People that do a lot of lifting, pulling or straining will get this.
Hope this helps.
Now getting a Dr. too listen to you is a different problem.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I posted about my ribs being dislocated and getting readjusted, however it only lead to temporary relief. I still have this gnawing pain in my upper right neck and right arm. Since seeing the sports med. dr., I have gone back to the doctor with server pain again. After doing some research about it, its seems as if my pain is in a pinched nerve or nerve damage. I have been to several docs with no avail and I have had an MRI which did not reveal anything.

I have an appointment with a Vascular specialist this week, maybe he/she can shed some light on my problem. My doctors are pretty much baffled at this point and I am getting weary dealing with this unresolved pain. I used to work in retail, where I did a lot of lifting etc., which may be the culprit.

I am at the point where I am ready to take matters into my own hands as the doctors are not providing the adequate care I need. I have been dealing with this since last Oct. and I have been telling the doctor that I felt something tear/ pull away from my muscle and he told me that was unlikely, because I would be in even MORE pain than I already was.

I agree that getting the doctor to listen is extremely hard, I would suggest being persistent and advocate for yourself.

Thanks for your post Edwards.
