I went to my doctor and he said that i just had "loose joints" and so he sent a therapy order in but it's ALOT and i've been doing it but i just can't help but think that there is something more. I always have pain in other joints like my knees, hips, ankles, etc. It's all gotten worse lately. even my spine hurts. my head hurts too. i only get four hours of sleep a night or less because of pain. And i've tried natural sedatives but they don't help. i also believe i might have bipolar. i have VERY top of the world to want to kill my self in just overnight. Any ideas on what it might be? Any? i also have reynaud's

I injured my shoulder in a MVA (rear-ended) in 8/2010.The burning pain around my shoulder blade/shoulder/ neck accompanied it. MRI showed rotator cuff damage, but I don't plan to have surgery unless or until NOTHING dents the pain. Right now it's more burning than anything and I can remedy that w/o meds. I won't tell you the blow-by-blow process of the frozen shoulder and the PT that ripped it into motion again (DO NOT LET ANYONE DO THAT TO YOU). However, after deep-tissue massage to break up scar tissue from PT, the thing that relieves the pain most rapidly is an essential oil combination from Young Living called "Deep Relief" and PanAway. They were recommended by a fellow sufferer who does raindrop therapy, too.

It also helps when I don't spend a lot of time over the computer. I did medical transcription prior to the MVA. It was a serious accident and I do not know for sure whether or not I had ANY of this pain prior to it.

I use my brother's recommendation (tennis-ball therapy) when I can't reach it. 2 tennis balls tied in a sock...place them behind me (or beneath me if lying down) and just let the pressure of my body do gentle trigger-point release.

When I can reach the trigger points myself it only takes a few minutes to bring relief.

I do NOT use any meds/pain relievers, steroid injections etc. Too many side effects to deal with. The pain has been enough.

Freinds,

Should burning is becoming a common problem among the computer operators. First stop using pillow and sleep in the straight cot without any cushion like structure. Second give hot or ice treatment daily twice. Three do your workout immediately after the ice and hot treatment. Use some ayurvedic oil and getntly massage the place daily. You will feel better to some extent..

I am 16 and I have had this problem for about 3-4 months. I have the pain described by everyone else.. a strange numbing stinging pain in my right shoulder blade except the pain comes from very simple things I can't walk to school or at least 500m without it hurting, I get it from bending over to Dj and sometimes just sitting down. The only reason I can think for this is the gym, where building muscle in my back I have maybe stretched a nerve, one particular exercise I think has caused it is for lats called a Dumbbell Row. Is this going to get worse or if I should visit a doctor? Thank.

I am 28 years old about 5'5'' and 155lbs, I too have been having the same burning pain in my right shoulder blade area for the past 6-8 months, at first I though it was just from stress but then I noticed I started getting it more often if I drove for a long period of time. Now I have it almost daily and I can be driving for 10 minutes and its awful along with stress making it unberable! I too work at a computer all day and have for the last 10 years, a few months ago my Dr. prescribed a muscle relaxer which helped at first but now it does nothing for it along with ibuprophen or advil. Did anyone ever figure out what this is or how to treat it?

Although I was treated, for dislocated ribs, the pain came back again after a few weeks. Since then I have seen two more doctors due to sharp shooting pain recurring in my right arm and neck, with no avail..

The doctors did not help, I saw saw my PC Dr. who then shuffled me to other random Drs, who could not help me, then my PC dumped pain killers and muscle relaxer medication on me to "fix" the problem.

Frustrated, I took matters into my own hands and decided to go see a chiropractor and the results have been great. First, they told me I had an exposed nerve in my neck and that I had an issue with BOTH my neck and in the muscle that rests under my shoulder blade, the scapular muscle.

I have gotten several adjustments in my neck and back. The adjustments to the neck where the ones which finally relieved me of all my pain after six frustrating months. Now I am pain free.

i was trying to find a medical name to my shoulder condition and this thread seems to have a lot of people with similar problems as mine.

So, doctor (different specialties) has not worked for most. I may continue physical therapy for a little longer before panicking.

In the meanwhile, if anyone has newer developments, please share.

About me: 31 y/o male. Right shoulder/arm/neck problem. Gets worse with keyboard/mouse related work. Problem has been around for 1 year now. Feel very tight in shoulders with excessive work. Right shoulder feels weak in general. No problem sleeping though.

The easiest thing it could be would be scapular thoracic pain syndrome. We call it computer shoulder. It is usually caused by reaching away from your body. Such as lifting with your arms extended or alot of over head motions. The cure is scapular stabilizing exercises such as rowing at the same time retact your sholder as if at attention. and then externally rotating your sholder and retracting your shoulder.

As strange as this sounds, it may be your gallblader. I've had pain between my shoulder blades for years now, and we thought it was just fibromyalgia pain flaying up. Sometimes the pain would be in my right shoulder and go into my neck and jaw (right side being the key here). I also would have pain wearing bras with an underwire. The would dig in and put pressure on the top of my ribs, making it painful to breathe as well as making my ribs feel bruised. Then 2 weeks ago I had what I thought was a heart attack. Excruciating pain in my chest, difficulty breathing, and it felt like I had a rubber band around my chest. After going to the ER they discovered it was my gallbladder. I don't have insurance, so I'm trying to find a way to get it removed. (my gallbladder remains contracted when it shouldn't which is indicative of a faulty GB). These painful episodes are called GB attacks, and can be excruciating. It can also take up to ten years for symptoms to become painful enough to cause you to see a doctor. Preliminary testing involves an ultra sound, which is how they discovered my problem. This may our may not be an option for any of you, but I noticed how some claimed poison on the right and that things like PT and other remedies didn't help. This could be because it was something completely different than just back or shoulder pain. By the way, we have pain here due to gas bubbles. Also, pay attention to what you eat. Fatty and greasy foods can aggravate the pain as well as make you nauseas. Sometimes this is worse at night. Try changing your diet slightly, and if that helps ( you'll notice almost immediately) I would check with your doctor :)

Here we go. It sounds like all of you have scapula thoracic pain syndrome. It is where the scapula articulates with the rib cage. We call it computer shoulder. It is usually caused by a computer that is not at the right height. Too high. And if you have to reach out away from you to lift or reach the mouse or slumping. Cure scapulae stabilizing exercises Stop reaching way out in front of you. Arlow

I have had similar problem for 10+ years with pain between my right shoulder blade and spine, also radiates down arm, up neck and to jaw.  Feels like I have trouble taking a deep breath on upper right side.  Been to several doctors, could find nothing wrong, and nothing to relieve pain for any period of time.  Went to gastro dr. for stomach pain and they found no problems except a small hiatal hernia, but the Dr. said that should not cause problems.  When I am taking care with my diet as to not aggravate heartburn symptoms and not to strain, also I do an exercise to help with the hiatal hernia that seems to help relieve the symptoms.  Gradually (after couple months) they return so I go back to the exercise again.  The exercise consists of drinking 16 - 20 oz. warm water first thing in the morning then flexing onto your toes then dropping suddenly to your heels so that the weight of the water "pulls" the stomach back into place.  Seems to help me and I believe the pain is related to my hiatal hernia.
