start a good lifestyle. have some light stretching execrcise, eat raw fruit and vegetables, have fresh fruits and vegetables juice, add flax oil and high quality of fish oil and have plenty of rest.
i've had pain on my back and neck as well but believing that Jesus will heal me makes a big difference. having a good lifestyle helps too. there's hope everyday and when the storms stop there's a rainbow to make you smile. God bless you!
sincerely,
litku

For approximately 3 1/2 years now I have had burning pain around my right shoulder blade, radiating up to the top of my shoulder and into the side of my neck,. At first it was only painful when I was doing dished, or typing for a long time, but as time progressed it became more painful, and more frequently. At this point I have severe burning pain all the time, made even worse with any use of my right arm which includes folding laundry, washing dishes, brushing my hair, etc. My entire right shoulder feels droopy, like I can't hold it up straight, and it grinds and pops when I move my shoulder around at all. Also, when the area that is painful is touched, it has almost a dead/numb feeling, hard to describe because it hurts to touch it, but it feels almost like when you are numbed with novacaine and touch your cheek.
I have seen many doctors for this, including an ortho specialist, he initially though it was just muscle pain and sent me to PT, did not help, made it worse. I went to a pain clinic and they did an mri and said I have some mild disc bulging at c6 - c7 interspace, and they assume that must be causing the shoulder pain. They did an epidural which did not help, actually made it worse, then they did all sorts of local cortizone injections which also did not help. Then more PT which included massage, traction, TENS, ultrasound, etc, still no relief. Ibuprofen doesn't help it anymore, yet the Dr.s don't want to give me anything stronger b/c they think I'll get hooked.
I am at the end of my rope with this!!! There has got to be something more to be done for this.. or it's got to be something other than what they have speculated!! Anyone experience this sort of thing or know what it could be???
i have exactly the same symptoms mine has got worse since i started working in care the pain is horrendous
yes thats my pain exactly. the numb feeling i have is nerve damage. the pain is likely the same. i just got prescribed amitriptyline (ive been dealing with this for about 20 years and have tried it all as well)which wasnt supposed to take effect for 8 weeks. I felt relief the first day. I did feel tightness in my opposite shoulder which is unusual but im not complaining. I couldnt put my arms in front of me either. this drug used to be used as an anti depressant but dont let that fool you, i have a completely clear mind. Im going to be getting therapudic nerve block treatments to the area and im not even sure if i can locate where the pain was! side effects at 10 mg once before bed were dry mouth (but its been 5 days and its way better now) and i am hungry. But i can move again so i doubt ill be gaining weight. this drug is the #1 pain reliever for nerve damage and am SOOOO livid that i wasnt prescribed this before. My understanding of the pain is: when your muscle is over worked it gets inflamed, then your nerve gets inflamed and over and over again. Concentrate on loosening your muscle in the bath until u can get your hands on this drug. Also massage your neck and shoulders. Id love to hear from you when your feeling better.!

I asked my PT about it when I was being treated for a lower back sprain. "I have this pain in my upper back, on the shoulder blade." He told me that was "referred pain from the neck." Who knew? I noticed sitting at the computer too long caused it. And, like many here, am only 5'1" & 125 lbs. (Harder to get a workspace ergonomically correct for us shorties!) The PT recommended a book called Treat Your Own Neck, by Robin McKenzie. The exercises in that book are the only things that worked for me - & they worked within 2 days (yes, I've had to use them a couple of times over the years.) The gist of it is that you're jutting your neck forward for long periods of time while at computer. The exercises hyperextend your neck (in the opposite direction) to counteract what caused the pain. It's so simple, but wasn't, until someone explained it to me! Good luck, everyone! (And, PS, the Treat Your Own Back book (same author) exercises are what the PT had me do to fix my bulging L4-L5 disc.) Highly recommend.
