I have the same exact thing as everyone on this site.  My question is can fluid from situation be release inside you or inside your blood stream and cause a bacteria infection?  Is this possible, because I have been ill now for 5 days and my body went into shock two days in a row, I turned purple with uncontrolable shakes with low blood pressure.  I am wondering how this happened and if this shoulder burning pain is the root of my problem

I didn't read all the responses to this question so someone might have already have said this but if not I'll put mine as a possible suggestion...I had the pain for over 6 years and seen my doctor, chiropractors, etc, and what it turned out to be was my gallbladder. So ask for an ultrasound.

hi. i come across this website but i know there's a good future ahead. i believe in the power of prayers and i know God sees and knows what you're painful situation is.

start a good lifestyle. have some light stretching execrcise, eat raw fruit and vegetables, have fresh fruits and vegetables juice, add flax oil and high quality of fish oil and have plenty of rest.

i've had pain on my back and neck as well but believing that Jesus will heal me makes a big difference. having a good lifestyle helps too. there's hope everyday and when the storms stop there's a rainbow to make you smile. God bless you!

sincerely,

It may be severe inflammation. Get a doctor to prescribe celebrex. It helps me with the burning

i have the burning stabbing pain in the right shoulderblade. I have kypho scoliosis (my spine is S shaped) anyway. The best 2 answers ive gotten (and ive been dealing with this constant pain for over 15 yrs) is that because my muscle is working overtime trying to support my crooked pine it is overworked and that irritates the nerve that is in between the spine, shoulder blade and back of the ribs. The nerve gets inflamed and thats why the pain doesnt go away after the muscle is relaxed. The other explanation is nerve damage.  The only things i can do to help relieve the pain is have a very hot bath and lay flat in the tub, or get a massage.  both or just temporary. I have noticed that when i have water retention im in a lot less pain... I have also heard people with this pain getting cortizone injections and it works for some ( not an option for me as there isnt enough room inbetween my vertabrae) drink a ton of water guys, it takes the edge off. if you are sitting at a desk hunched over your muscles are going to be stressed and inflamed pull your chair in and used your arm rests.

I've been dealing with the same shoulder pain radiating from behind the shoulder blade.  Saw the Doc who suggested motrin, ice and warm packs, and so on.  After three weeks I gave up and grabbed some DMSO.  Three times a day 50% solution applied in the area, working great.   Guessing it reduced the pain by 80 to 90%.
Obviously the wife hates it, but whats a little bad breath?

For approximately 3 1/2 years now I have had burning pain around my right shoulder blade, radiating up to the top of my shoulder and into the side of my neck,. At first it was only painful when I was doing dished, or typing for a long time, but as time progressed it became more painful, and more frequently. At this point I have severe burning pain all the time, made even worse with any use of my right arm which includes folding laundry, washing dishes, brushing my hair, etc. My entire right shoulder feels droopy, like I can't hold it up straight, and it grinds and pops when I move my shoulder around at all. Also, when the area that is painful is touched, it has almost a dead/numb feeling, hard to describe because it hurts to touch it, but it feels almost like when you are numbed with novacaine and touch your cheek.

I have seen many doctors for this, including an ortho specialist, he initially though it was just muscle pain and sent me to PT, did not help, made it worse. I went to a pain clinic and they did an mri and said I have some mild disc bulging at c6 - c7 interspace, and they assume that must be causing the shoulder pain. They did an epidural which did not help, actually made it worse, then they did all sorts of local cortizone injections which also did not help. Then more PT which included massage, traction, TENS, ultrasound, etc, still no relief. Ibuprofen doesn't help it anymore, yet the Dr.s don't want to give me anything stronger b/c they think I'll get hooked.

I am at the end of my rope with this!!! There has got to be something more to be done for this.. or it's got to be something other than what they have speculated!! Anyone experience this sort of thing or know what it could be???

yes thats my pain exactly. the numb feeling i have is nerve damage. the pain is likely the same. i just got prescribed amitriptyline (ive been dealing with this for about 20 years and have tried it all as well)which wasnt supposed to take effect for 8 weeks. I felt relief the first day. I did feel tightness in my opposite shoulder which is unusual but im not complaining. I couldnt put my arms in front of me either. this drug used to be used as an anti depressant but dont let that fool you, i have a completely clear mind. Im going to be getting therapudic nerve block treatments to the area and im not even sure if i can locate where the pain was! side effects at 10 mg once before bed were dry mouth (but its been 5 days and its way better now) and i am hungry. But i can move again so i doubt ill be gaining weight. this drug is the #1 pain reliever for nerve damage and am SOOOO livid that i wasnt prescribed this before. My understanding of the pain is: when your muscle is over worked it gets inflamed, then your nerve gets inflamed and over and over again. Concentrate on loosening your muscle in the bath until u can get your hands on this drug. Also massage your neck and shoulders. Id love to hear from you when your feeling better.!

Hi All, I read the first 5 pages of this thread & it describes the pain I had.  In case it hasn't been mentioned (& I apologize for not reading the whole thread) I wanted to tell you what worked for me.

I asked my PT about it when I was being treated for a lower back sprain. "I have this pain in my upper back, on the shoulder blade." He told me that was "referred pain from the neck."  Who knew?  I noticed sitting at the computer too long caused it.  And, like many here, am only 5'1" & 125 lbs. (Harder to get a workspace ergonomically correct for us shorties!)  The PT recommended a book called Treat Your Own Neck, by Robin McKenzie.  The exercises in that book are the only things that worked for me - & they worked within 2 days (yes, I've had to use them a couple of times over the years.) The gist of it is that you're jutting your neck forward for long periods of time while at computer. The exercises hyperextend your neck (in the opposite direction) to counteract what caused the pain. It's so simple, but wasn't, until someone explained it to me!  Good luck, everyone!  (And, PS, the Treat Your Own Back book (same author) exercises are what the PT had me do to fix my bulging L4-L5 disc.)  Highly recommend.

I'm 16 yrs and I've had this pain for two yrs now whete between my right shouldwrblade and spine burns and feels as if billions of needles are getting stabbed into that one spot. Ive been to my dr once and all he told me to do was get a massage, heat and cold compress and ibuprofen. If I stand or don't have my back leaned against something I won't have pain but when I do stand for long periods of time. The pain does come back and each day the pain get worse. just recently it's starting too have a pop like feeling to it and when I have someone touch it, it is numb too me . I don't want to go back to the dr because he's going to keep telling me the same thing . But I want him to look more into it . Because this pain puts me through hell. And I just want it gone . I want to be able to still live life as a 16 yr old and be able to participate in activities , and not be called a hypochondriac or get in trouble for making up excuses when my back really does hurt.

you really should get an x-ray go to the ER if your doctor wont listen. This is very common for ppl that have spines a little off balance. are your shoulders and hips straight? is the space between your shoulder blade farther apart than 3 inches? and are the same height?

guest and all others. I had an accident and was hit across my shoulder blade, neck and head with2 35kg steel beams. They say it is bursitis but all the tests say no bursitis showing still going through the works on this but have a relief for most of you. Get chilli oil and mix 4 drops in a tablespoon of sorboline creme then massage into area where pain is felt
you will be really surpised how it helps, you can add up to 10 drops of chilli oil but no more as it can burn. please try this as I did and got heaps of relief you apply it every four hours. Good luck
