Severe burning pain around right shoulder blade, what could it be?

Did you find out what was going on at all or are you still suffering the pain? What you discribed is what I have been going through since 2009 and has only been getting worst.

I have been experiencing this kind of pain for last two weeks...its a very very deep pain in my left shoulder blade...its dull in the morning but as the day progresses it becomes very very sharp

I have been dealing with the same exact pain in between spine and shoulder blades.. Mainly on the right but it does manifest itself into the left at times as well. I've had the whole cardiac workup including stress, echo, and cardiac cath. I had my gallbladder out 6 months ago and been checked for stones left behind with MRCP, endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound again nothing. I've had MRI of thoracic and cervical spine which again revealed nothing. The pain I get between my shoulders and spine can get to a 10 easily and make me nauseous and sick! My pain doc has no idea what it is he prescribed me neurontin and capsaicin patches. I also use heat and massage but nothing works. I'm going crazy here! No one can figure anything out! And all of my labs are always great... Frustrated!

I also experience this burning sensation in my right shoulder/neck area. It is reallllllly painful and I am to the point where I do not know what to do as well. I will sometimes be on a run or in class and it will start hurting to the point where I could scream. The doctors told me it was due to bad posture, but this is not the case because ever since they told me this is why, I have changed my habits and do not slouch anymore. I am to the point of helplessness where the only thing I do to help the pain is force people to massage my back and even that just helps soothe the pain .....

I had almost the exact same symptoms as you and it started about 10 years ago. When went to Dr they would find some other issue and say it was causing these symptoms. After a back surgery, and 3 shoulder surgery, no relief. The last surgeon for shoulder thought I was trying to get pain meds cause I kept complaining of pain. After my Dr gave me a referral to the Mayo clinic in Rochester MN, a couple days of testing and 3 drs consulting each other, I was diagnosed with nostalgia paristetica of the muscle tissue and skeletal. Was caused by several accidents and injuries along with build up of scar tissue. If you read up on it , it talks about a burning spot on back, you have to dig around until you find a description of it affecting muscle and bone.

You need a professional muscular therapist to release the muscles on your chest that are pulling on your back muscles, causing referred pain.

My husband has a simular problem in his right shoulder blade. He says its like a hot dagger being shoved in his shoulder. He too has been back and forth to doctors, had MRI's and nothing works except some relief when I do chop across his shoulder. He is a mechanic.. Any suggestions.

I am 37 years old and I have been living wit right shoulder pain for 10 years.mine came on fairly sudden. I was a dog trainer (no typing). I started having shooting, burning pains in my right arm and shoulder, and it kept falling asleep. Then, I woke up one morning, and my right arm was purple and about three times its normal size. Too make a long story short... After 5 days in the hospital and every test coming back normal, my right arm was completely paralyzed from the elbow down. I was given a diagnosis of elimination of Parsonage Turner Syndrome. I was in so much pain that I was unable to work for about seven years. Now, my shoulder pain is still there, but I also have hip and foot pain, again on my right side. I get localized migraines on my right side. I am beyond tired of all of this. I have an 8 year old son that I am ready to play outside with. I can barely walk, and if I go more that 20 feet, I need a cane, much more than that and I need a wheel chair. I also have swelling on the top of my shoulder and up my neck.

I put on Salon Pas pain patches at night-sometimes as many as a dozen-but it helps a lot! I like Salon Pas as it's not like the Icy Hot burning feeling, but you do feel the burn on your shoulder and arm going away-

I am suffering with the same exact pain. Numbness almost bit it hurts to the touch. Mine is in my left shoulder blade. I have yet to find a doctor to tell me what it is

Hi there. I had very similar symptoms. I had a burning pain under my right shoulder blade for 6 years. It completely affected my quality of life and I felt hopeless. I was told that I had anything from sore muscles to a liberal tear in my shoulder. I went through physical therapy, chiropractic, shots, everything. I had 2 unnecessary surgeries on my shoulder as my doctor thought that a small tear in my labrum was causing my problems. It turns out, I had bursitis under my shoulder blade and on June 7 of this year I had the bursa sac removed. My life is 100% better and I am finally pain free!! Please check and see if this could be a problem for you as well. It could save you lots of frustration and thousands of dollars.
