I've had the burning pain around the middle of my right shoulder pain between my spine and shoulder blade. When it comes, usually tho not always in the afternoon, it hurts to raise my arm. One former physical therapist I just spoke with suggested it's spinal stenosis -- that the disks in my spine are compressing, putting pressure on the nerve running out from the spine. Makes sense, but why only on one side? I suspect stress, fatigue, and repetitive/habitual movements contribute, and I must say I find stretching helps, particularly putting my arms over my head beside my ears, bending over holding something (like the back of a high-backed sofa, or a stair railing), and stretching back to elongate the spine/shoulder. Vague, I know, but I'm still exploring what's going on. My next stop is my naturopath, and I'll probably look for an acupuncturist as well.

I had a chiropractor tell me I had thoracic outlet syndrome. I had very similar symptoms to yours and it's from being on a keyboard 40 hours a week. It's like carpal tunnel of the shoulder. There's a tendon that runs thru the shoulder blade and gets irritated. It starts at the top of the shoulder and worsens over time until it radiates up into your neck and down between your shoulder blades. I haven't a solution for you but in the early stages having a chiropractor work on my neck relieved it for a while.

I have been experiencing the same thing. I was diagnosed with a traction injury and pinched nerve. Over a month of physical therapy and tge burning started about 2 weeks ago. I told my doctor this and she is sending me for more theropy. It literally feels like i am being stabbed in the shoulder and someone sticks a lit match in it. The doctor seems to think that this is because it is the site of the original injury. But i think that beings i am dealing with workmans comp, they are dragging their feet. Hopefully after this week she sends me for the MRI. And I think that the theropy is what is causing the new problem. From what i have been told, make sure you are heeled after your surgery before going to physical therapy. Otherwise you coukd tear it again. I hope everything works out for you. And your post has been quite helpful.
Thanks

I've been researching osteochondrosis and realized that I had some symptoms even in my younger years(growing pains, knock kneed). I have lost range of motion in lumbar spine and now battling pain in lower shoulder blade area. Massage helps for a day or two.

I have a bone spur and cervical rediculopathy. ( pinched nerve) c6-7. Numbness down neck to shoulder under scapula. Google the scalene muscles and find a good masseuse !!! Scalenes are a big part of your problem

Read about cervical rediculopathy as well as trigger points of the scalene muscles. Took me 6 years to get diagnosed by a good PT.

Ive had ongoing issues for years .
Told nerve pain and put on lyrica. I dont want medications i want to know wtf is the answer.
So mine is my right shoulder and the burning is excrutiating. And suddenly my fingers are also going numb. So i went to a speciaist today...ok so my fingers are not related to my shoulder problem. I have carpal tunnel in he fingers which will require surgery on the wrist.
I thought it would all be related .so please see a good specialist rather then just a GP.
xrays will be done monday on my spine from neck to near shoulder to check if its my spine causing my shoulder pain...ruling out narrowing of the spine squashing nerves there. He said if its the spine ...the shoulderis classed as referred pain.
Ok so im also beimg injected with a dye for some sort of ultra sound directly on the shoulder to see extent of nerve damage . But in saying this theyre also looking at the rotar cuff for tears.
Bottom line is please follow it up and dont allow just a normal doctor to send you on your merry way.
In my instance regardless of the results i will be having surgery. Im just hoping its not the spine. I hope this helps someon with similar issues and especially if your fingers are numb also...it doesnt mean it is part of the shoulder problems.
My shoulder problems are from sporting as a child and in more recent years from working 8hrs a day with data entry.
Nowadays i only have to sit at my dinner table or carry my hand bag and it can flare up and bring me to my knees
Im very happy i have an idea and will have an answer next week regardless.
Just do not allow a nornal doctor to tell u its muscle or take some painkillers. Always be refered to a specialist who is trained in these areas

You need CT Scan and X-Ray are best for diagnosing Facet Joint problems. They rely on MRI's to diagnose but that doesn't give a reading of Facet Joints. I had a CT scan by accident because I had a fall and developed a lump on side of my neck so they thought I had cancer. Went through that scare and nothing.... I was sent to a Neurosurgeon because of the severe neck pain, shoulder pain, pectorial pain. He said that the MRI didn't show much. I didn't understand so I gave him my CT scan from the Onocologist. Sure enough Gapped facet C5/C6 showed up in CT Scan and fluid in Joint next to it on the right side. BINGO!! Get a CT Scan if you can. The other hard part is getting people to look for Facets!!!
